Jones on target for Clarets
By Chris Boden (Burnley Express)
STEVE Jones was on target against his old club Crewe as a Burnley reserve side won 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors game at Gawthorpe on Tuesday. There are no details of the Clarets line-up, although three trialists are thought to have taken part. The trialists are believed to be 32-year-old Portuguese centre back Ricardo Silva from Boavista, 29-year-old midfielder Martin Abraham from Sparta Prague, who has featured in the Czech Republic squad, and Swedish international striker Olof Guterstam. For Crewe, former Nottingham Forest man Eugen Bopp netted from the spot, with on loan Simon Church also on target.
Meanwhile, Burnley boss Owen Coyle has been linked with a move for Trinidad and Tobago striker Collin Samuel. The 26-year-old played with Coyle at Falkirk, and is currently out of contract after a spell in the MLS with Toronto.
And is has been reported that Charlton's first offer for Andy Gray, believed to be over £1m, has been turned down, with Ipswich waiting in the wings with a cash-plus-player bid.
