Lincoln Phillips opens the National U-10 tournament

Sixteen teams including the 2009 Under 10 Right Start Cup Champions Trendsetter Hawks will take part in the first ever National Under 10 football tournament scheduled  to take place on Sunday 11th April 2010 at the Republic Bank Sports Club in Barataria.
 
This event is an initiative of All Sport led by Anthony Harford whose objective is to develop the Under 10 brand not just in Trinidad and Tobago, but regionally as an annual event.
 
Teams from all ends of the country such as Pt. Fortin Civic Centre and Moruga Football Club will kick off at 10:00am to eagerly compete for over $7,500 in prize vouchers. Also in attendance to open the competition is TTFF Technical Director, Lincoln Phillips, legendary goalkeeper and champion for the Under 10 brand.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

I hope this turns into a successful venture. These types of tournaments are badly needed for player development. :beermug:

Dingle Boys F.C. of D’abadie, celebrating their fifty first anniversary this year, emerged champions at the inaugural National Under 10 Football Fiesta over the weekend.
 
The TTFF Technical Director officially declared the event open and heaped praises on All Sport, the organizers of the event . Phillips, one of the country’s greatest goalkeepers, in his remarks said “it is at this level, we must restart our country’s football progress.” He urged all coaches of youth teams to become certified to standardize methods.
 
Twelve clubs played in the event with Joe Public, Dunstan Williams Soccer Academy and Trendsetter Hawks, the other teams advancing to the last four.
 
Joe Public who had not conceded a goal in the first round, were beaten 4-0 by Dunstan Williams Soccer Academy in the third place match, while the final was an enthralling game between Dingle Boys and Trendsetter Hawks. The teams were not separated in normal time. Dingle Boys triumphed on kicks from the penalty mark.
 
Dingle boys received $4,000 in sporting goods for their efforts while the team’s hardworking and instrumental captain was named the Tournament MVP.

         2nd Place: Trendsetter Hawks
         3rd Place: Dunstan Williams Soccer Academy
         Tournament MVP: David Nicome - Dingle Boys
