Charles Pollard makes surprising Joe Public exit
ttproleague.com

Guyanese international Charles Pollard has made a shocking decision last week to part ways with Bmobile Joe Public because of uncertainty over playing time.

The 36 year old veteran joined the Lions from Caledonia AIA in January with hopes of ending his playing career this season-and with the defending Digicel Pro League Champions.

Pollard featured in two matches for Joe Public against Leo Victor and Devonshire Cougars in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship preliminary round in March.

But with youthful defenders Radanfah Abu Bakr, Kareem Moses, Carlyle Mitchell and Keion Goodridge in coach Derek King's favour, Pollard said he isn't ready to retire to the bench.

"I wasn't guaranteed much playing time," Pollard said. "I think it's hard to accept less playing time in a league that I've dominated for the past years.

"We have ended our relationship on mutual consent and I'm now a free agent. I know that with my leadership qualities and knowledge of the game can be a great contribution to any team. But I want to play out this year because I'm looking at coaching next season," said the former Alpha United(GUY), Pele(GUY), Netrockers(GUY), Docs Kewalas, San Juan Jabloteh, W Connection, North East Stars, Brooklyn Knights(USL) and Caledonia AIA player.

Pollard said he is expected to join another Pro League club within the next week, however preferred the keep the name of the club unanimous until an officially agreement is made.

He explained that Joe Public was very courteous in releasing him adding, "Because the coach(King) and I had a good relationship, it was easy for me to get consent to leave the club."

Meantime head coach Derek King preparing his team for upcoming CFU Club Championship second round matches this week said, "Pollard left on good terms. We just couldn't assist him right now. We have young legs in players such as Abu Bakr and Kareem Moses and Pollard wasn't of that fitness. We really brought him in to fill gaps during the League and the CONCACAF
Champions' League which we intend to be a part of."

By parthing ways with Joe Public, Pollard gave up the possibility of appearing in the Champions' League. Pollard said it's unfortunate to an extent because he could have contributed a lot in the CONCACAF tournament, but reiterated that he wasn't ready to retire to the bench.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Isn't there someone who proofreads these reports before they are released?
