Soccer Coach Pleads Guilty To Fondling Charges

HAHNVILLE, La. -- A soccer coach -- who was arrested last year on charges that he fondled one of his players – has pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile in Saint Charles Parish court and sentenced to a year in prison.

According to court records, Lester Young, 45, a coach for the Carrollton Soccer Club in New Orleans at the time of his Oct. 20 arrest, was staying with the Destrehan family of one of his players when the incident occurred.

Young, a citizen of Trinidad who was in the country on a work visa to coach the club, admitted going into the 15-year-old boy's room and touching him after watching pornography on cable television. The boy was asleep at the time, but told his family the next day.

The family, who later told detectives that they took Young in because he couldn't find affordable housing in the New Orleans area, reported the matter to the sheriff's office.

Young initially had been charged of two counts of molestation of a juvenile, a more serious offense. Young must register as a sex offender. He was given credit for time served.
