Trinidad and Tobago and W Connection World Cup defender David Atiba Charles is now on trial with Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls.
The 30 year old joined the Red Bulls on Thursday and will be part of their pre-season camp but no conformation was made on how long the player will stay on trial.
Charles left Trinidad in mid-January, joining Swedish Ljungskile SK on trial and a possible contract offer. But according to W Connection Renee John-Williams, things didn’t go as planned.
“The arrangement didn’t materialize the way he (Charles) expected,” said John-Williams. “And he moved to the United States joining the NY Red Bulls on trial.”
Charles’ moves are handled by his agent Heather MacKenzie of MLF Sports.
Ljungskile SK (LSK) promoted to the Sweden’s First Division, also known as the Allsvenskan Division, in the upcoming 2008 Season was seen by Charles as an opportunity to return to Europe.
In 2006 the W Connection player joined Northern Ireland club Glenavon FC, but returned to Trinidad and Tobago in March of 2007 and finished off the year with the ‘Savonnetta Boys’. Charles’ W Connection teammate, goalkeeper Marvin Phillip is also on trial in the United States with another MLS club, FC Dallas.
