Doctors Confirm Messi Will Be Out For Six Weeks
« on: March 05, 2008, 04:20:48 PM »

Barça’s medical team have confirmed Leo Messi’s injury to his left thigh, and have estimated the period of recuperation as “about six weeks”. This means Messi will miss the Champions League quarter finals but should be ok to play in the semi finals if Barça get through.

Lionel Messi will be out of action for "approximately six weeks" the Barça medical staff confirmed after tests revealed that he has torn his femroal bicep in his left thigh during the game against Celtic.

The statement clarified that "the club medical services want to make clear that since the start of hte season the player has continued to work on a specific training programme for his characteristics. The result of the data obtained through the different work and controls has allowed the player to play in each match." For that reason, a decision is made before each game as to whether he can play or not.

Also, it was said that despite his prevention "as with any injury there is the risk of an accident which is difficult to predict. This type of specific work wil continue through the season with the player."

something about how the club medical services worded their stament suggest that messi has an ungoing problem 4 a while now

hmmm

jus found this intersting piece............the writer is obviously a real madrid fan though  :rotfl:

When parents of Messi had realized how big of a soccer talent their son possesses, they dropped the interest of their son's intellectual and spiritual development. They shifted all their affords towards Messi's soccer career.

Everyday his father Jorge was driving his son to 30 miles far away from home Newell's Old Boys Rosario club, not letting him skip even one practice.

At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. After River Plate showed interest in Messi's progress, but did not have enough money to pay for the treatment of the illness, Messi's father found a job in Spain and moved to Barcelona with the whole family.

Soon after arrival to Europe he introduced his young son to Barcelona's youth coaches. Barcelona signed Messi to club's youth teams and offered to pay all medical bills related to his illness.

Unfortunately Messi's parents had a completely different approach to young boy's responsibilities at school and at home then to his soccer duties.
