Technically yes. Football intelligence yes....physicality (speed & strength)- not too sure about that.

Latas more skillfull. Gerard has had more success in his career........Champions League Winner, FA Cup winner etc, etc. Two different type of players, but it woulda be intersting to see Latas (in his prime) in the EPL. Although the style back then would not have suited Latas too much, but I could see him playing for a Arsenal or a Man U, as those teams play possesion type football.

Latas could ball on any side yo.
He and Gerrard are different kinds of players. I don't think anyone ever expects Latas to "track back". 

And speed is a deceptive thing. I think Latas def. is quicker than Gerrard but in terms of a footrace, I eh go doubt that Gerrard could burn him.
But then again, how many times Latas really used to need a set a speed to run onto a through ball? He more turnin in the middle of the pitch and delivering that ball.
