Why don't they call themselves Naparima Connection or San Fernando Connection. We know John Williams is the owner sponsor. People from the outside need to know where they from.

W Connection lose 1-0 to Itapirense

Saturday, 22 March 2008
 By Randy Bando...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
W Connection were edged 1-0 on Wednesday after an impressive showing against their Brazilian counterparts Sao Paolo Third Division club Esporte Itapirense.

Itapirense in front of their home fans were held goalless at the half by W Connection who received two yellow cards to show for their early fight.

But two minutes into the second period Itapirense registered their lone item when Faisca beat goalkeeper Joao Mansano for the 1-0 advantage.

W Connection coach introduced Kemmuel Rivers for William Oliviera, Dwight Crichlow for Dwight Scott and Brazilian trialist Douglas Oliveria for Ronaldo Viana in the second period but that didn’t change the scoreline. The match ended in the 1-0 score in favour of the home team.

Fevrier applauded the performance of his opponents saying, “They (Itapirense) are very good tactically, and have very good technique. They played a clean aggressive game, and are a very good team. They are in competition at present so they are more match-fit than we are.”

But the W Connection coach pleased with his team’s performance added, “The way our players coped with the game giving a pretty balanced performance showed a high level of play by both teams. It was a tight game and could have gone either way. We must accept that when it came to the details, our opponents were more consistent. In the end we lost 1 – nil but competed quite good throughout.”

He pointed out midfielders Andrei Pacheco and Clyde Leon and defender Nicholson Thomas as outstanding against Itapirense.

WCFC Starting Senior Team: Joao Mansano(GK), Christian Viveros, Elijah Joseph, Clyde Leon, Willian Oliveria, Ronaldo Viana, Andrei Pacheco, Dwight Scott, Oscar Torijano, Kelvin Modeste, Nickcolson Thomas.

W Connection’s Reserves also played on Wednesday night in an earlier match which kicked off at 7pm and were beaten 3-1 by their Itapirense counterparts. W Connection lone item came 15 seconds before the break with Brazilian trialist Rafael da Silva but the visitors were already 2 goals down. The third Itapirense item was scored in the second half.
