T&T, Costa Rica draw 2-2.
T&T Express Reports.

Trinidad and Tobago missed out on an automatic semi-final spot at the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualification Series when Cristin Granados scored deep into time added-on to secure a 2-2 draw for Costa Rica in a Group B preliminary round game on Friday night at the Estadio Olímpico in Juarez, Mexico.

The late draw means the T&T Soca Princesses have to await tomorrow's match between Canada and Costa Rica before knowing if they are out of the series. Trinidad and Tobago lost their opening match 6-0 to the Canadians.

Should Canada defeat Costa Rica by a larger margin, T&T will advance to Wednesday's semi-final, where they will meet the United States. Otherwise, Costa Rica will move on.

On Friday night, Trinidad and Tobago got off to a brilliant start, taking an eighth minute lead through Kennya "YaYa" Cordner, but Amara Wilson hit back for Costa Rica to level the score at 1-1 in the 21st minute. T&T regained the lead in the 35th minute through creative midfielder Maylee Attin Johnson and held the advantage until past the 90th minute when Costa Rica equalised.

USA and the hosts, Mexico secured their places in the semifinals of the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualification on Friday at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juarez in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.

The result eliminated Jamaica from the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualification and placed the USA alongside Mexico into the semifinals with a first round match remaining.

In an earlier encounter on Friday, Costa Rica played to a 2:2 draw against Trinidad & Tobago in Group B action. Maylee Attin-Johnson and Kennya Cordner scored for Trinidad & Tobago, but Costa Rica answered with goals from Cristin Granados and Amara Wilson.

The CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification continues on Sunday at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juarez with the last first round matches as Canada face Costa Rica in Group B action and then Mexico hosts the USA in Group A .

The semifinals and finals of the CONCACAF Tournament will take place on 9 and 12 April, respectively. The two finalists at the CONCACAF event will also progress to the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008.
