CA expands to Fort Lauderdale

Saturday, April 5 2008
Trinidad & Tobago Newsday

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES (CA) yesterday announced that it is expanding its service to Florida with the addition of four weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale. The new route will be launched on May 22, offering additional service to South Florida.

CA is the only carrier servicing both Miami and Fort Lauderdale International Airport from Trinidad.

“The new network expansion will allow CA to better cover South Florida and offers more options and flexibility to customers. In addition to the new four weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale, the airline continues to offer daily service to Miami’s newest facility, Terminal J,” it said. CA recently announced that it will start operating three daily flights to New York City on July 1 and will offer nine flights per week to Toronto, Canada from April 15.

This is what they should have been doing a long time ago....stick to your core competence/area of business, instead ah flying to Costa Rica and Brazil....

Delta done have that route (not sure the schedule) and the plans for BWEE flying that...so many people and company name changes since then it probably not a priority or even profitable any more.

CA could feasibley do Atlanta, as Delta only serves the route four times a week. The other thre days it comes to Piarco from JFK. Delta is on a massive expansion drive though. It is the only US airline in Arfica, and will be the first to Guyana soon. It also has a weekly flight between ATL and TAB (Tobago).

As far as CA, they would probably need to start acquiring more aircraft if they want to keep up. Back when the airport got downgraded, they (as BWEE) lost out on the opportunity to get a non-stop to Houston. Continental has had it and been doing well with it's daily.

I read that Spirit will be starting FLL-POS in June and American is adding a third daily to Miami. Should be good for travellers to the US with regard competition.
Success will never take you by surprise.
