ah tell allyuh cuban is ah messed up guy.

Cuban's a good guy man.  Time to move in a different direction...I like Avery but he not getting it done.  He ride Devin Harris...and ride him...and ride him, staying on his ass for every little mistake.  He eventually got his wish (probably Cuban's as well) in trading for Kidd, essentially giving up on a young defensive-minded point guard for an aging superstar and still he could only barely make it to the second-round.  His team lacked an offensive identity (give it to Dirk on the wing and clear out is not an offensive strategy) and were often lost defensively.

Time for change was due.

Reports: O'Neal shipped to Raptors for Ford, pickby FOXSports.com

Updated: June 25, 2008, 9:01 PM EST 47 comments add this RSS blog email print The Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers have agreed to a blockbuster trade the day before the draft.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that Jermaine O'Neal was dealt to the Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic and the No. 17 overall pick. The Pacers also have the No. 11 pick in the draft.

Ford became somewhat expendable after the emergence of backup Jose Calderon in Toronto, while the injury-prone O'Neal hasn't played in 70 or more games in a season since 2003.

O'Neal averaged 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.01 blocks during the '07-08 season, but he played in just 42 games.

Ford played in 51 games with 26 starts for the Raptors, averaging 12.1 points and 6.1 assists.

Sonics released from Seattle lease, will moveUpdated: July 2, 2008, 10:29 PM EST 692 comments add this RSS blog email print SEATTLE (AP) - Clay Bennett finally found a dollar amount that would sever his contentious relationship with the city of Seattle - $75 million.

As a result, the SuperSonics are headed to Oklahoma City with Bennett leading the way, leaving behind the team name, colors and 41 years of history.
Oklahoma City will have an NBA franchise for the 2008-09 season after a settlement announced Wednesday between the team and the city of Seattle, ending the clashing bond with the city that culminated in a six-day federal trial over terms of the team's KeyArena lease. The judge was scheduled to rule Wednesday afternoon.

"We made it," Bennett said after stepping to an Oklahoma City podium featuring the NBA logo and the letters OKC. "The NBA will be in Oklahoma City next season."

The settlement calls for Bennett and his Professional Basketball Club LLC to pay as much as $75 million to the city in exchange for the immediate termination of the lease. The team's name and colors will be staying in Seattle.

Bennett said the move would start Thursday and the first focus would be on the SuperSonics' players.

"In a perfect world I would have liked to see Clay Bennett leave, without the team at all," said Steven Pyeatt, the co-founder of Save Our Sonics.

It's a victory for Bennett, who purchased the Sonics in 2006 from Starbucks Corp. chairman Howard Schultz for $350 million, and will take the franchise to his hometown. Bennett faced harsh criticism in Seattle for his efforts in trying to build a new arena as a replacement for KeyArena, and the presumption he wanted to move the franchise all along.

"It was a tough experience for all of us that were involved in it. There was just so much that happened on both sides, so much misinterpreted, miscommunicated and misunderstood that it was difficult," Bennett said.

Bennett announced that the settlement calls for a payment of $45 million immediately, and would include another $30 million paid to Seattle in 2013 if the state Legislature in Washington authorizes at least $75 million in public funding to renovate KeyArena by the end of 2009 and Seattle doesn't obtain an NBA franchise of its own within the next five years.

The settlement could become a victory for Seattle as well. In a statement, NBA commissioner David Stern reversed his previous stance and said that a renovated KeyArena could be a suitable venue for an NBA franchise in Seattle. But the time is short.

"We understand that city, county, and state officials are currently discussing a plan to substantially rebuild KeyArena for the sum of $300 million," Stern said in a statement. "If this funding were authorized, we believe KeyArena could properly be renovated into a facility that meets NBA standards relating to revenue generation, fan amenities, team facilities, and the like."

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels explains the decision to the public. (Elaine Thompson / Associated Press)

However, Stern added, "given the lead times associated with any franchise acquisition or relocation and with a construction project as complex as a KeyArena renovation, authorization of the public funding needs to occur by the end of 2009 in order for there to be any chance for the NBA to return to Seattle within the next five years."

Bennett said he and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels signed a binding agreement Wednesday, which would be formalized later, that keeps the SuperSonics' name, logo and colors available if Seattle gets a replacement franchise. Bennett said his franchise would create duplicate championship banners and trophies, leaving one set in Seattle and using the second set for undetermined purposes in Oklahoma City.

"We have 30 million reasons why we have support for a future NBA team," Seattle city attorney Tom Carr said.

In April, the NBA Board of Governors approved Bennett's application to move the team to Oklahoma City, pending the outcome of the trial between the team and the city. The settlement came six days after the trial concluded.

"A really exciting day. We had been gearing up for the 2010 season, and to find out the team's coming two years early is a bonus," Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett said.

The settlement doesn't cover a pending lawsuit filed by Schultz, who is seeking to regain control of the team. Schultz claims that Bennett didn't follow through on an agreement to negotiate in good faith for a new arena in Seattle for one full year before seeking relocation options.

"We believe it's baseless, has no merit. We will fight it vigorously," Bennett said of that lawsuit.

Schultz's attorney, Richard Yarmuth said his client's lawsuit will move forward. As part of the settlement, if the PBC is prevented from playing in Oklahoma City during the next two seasons because of Schultz's lawsuit, the city will be required to repay Bennett's group $22.5 million for each season. If the team is required to play in KeyArena for those two seasons, Bennett's group is released from the additional $30 million it would owe the city.

"We're not a party to this settlement and in fact we chose not to participate in it," Yarmuth said.

The trial between the team and city was centered on the lease agreement that called for the Sonics to play at KeyArena through the 2009-10 season. Sonics lead attorney Brad Keller contended that Bennett should simply be able to write a check to satisfy the final two years of the lease. Keller argued that the "specific performance" clause the city rested its case on should not apply in a garden-variety dispute between tenant and landlord.

Bennett and his ownership group previously offered to pay the city $26.5 million in February to buy out the final two years of the lease. They were rebuffed.

Nickels noted that Wednesday's settlement would cover lost rent, tax revenue and pay off the remaining debt on KeyArena.

"I believed all along enforcing our lease would allow us time to come to a better arrangement," Nickels said. "We now have that deal."

But I monitoring we Beasley wid every basketball move he make. So wid dat said, we buss up Chicago and dey no 1 pick. Mey boi score 28 points wid ease, wid 9 rebounds in about 21 minutes.

As for Chicago no 1 pick (Rose) we second round draft pick Chalmers shut dat down, wid some serious defense. Rose only scored about 9 points. Mind you, do some research, dey said dat dis is not de first time Chalmers shut Rose down, he did it like twice before in de college ball. So it look like he have Rose number lock and seal. Guess what, Riley was well seated in de area watching Beasley. Riley doh ever go summer league, so all yuh know dis thing is serious baby. Ah sick wid it yuh, cuz we playing 2night again and ah not going tuh bed until ah find out de score. Watch de ride  ;)  8) 8) 8). HIGHLY BLESSED.

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement to acquire Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings, SI.com's Chris Mannix has confirmed.

The Rockets will give up guard Bobby Jackson, who played for the Kings from 2000-05, rookie forward Donte Green and a 2009 first-round draft pick.

The Houston Chronicle first reported details of the trade on its Web site on Tuesday night.

Artest's long-anticipated move out of Sacramento probably can't be announced yet because Greene, acquired by the Rockets on draft night last month, signed a contract with Houston on July 14. A player can't be traded within 30 days of signing a contract, according to league rules.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey did not immediately return a phone message. Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis said Morey was traveling out of the country and unavailable for comment. Morey planned to attend the Olympics next month.

The Kings confirmed that the teams had spoken about Artest.

"We have had some very positive discussions with Houston involving Ron, but no trade is imminent at this time," said Geoff Petrie, the Kings' president of basketball operations.

The 6-foot-7, 248-pound Artest averaged 20.5 points last season, his highest since 2004-05, when he averaged 24.5 for Indiana. He also grabbed 5.8 rebounds per game for Sacramento last season.

The 28-year-old Artest is as well known for his volatile personality as his basketball skills. While playing for the Indiana Pacers, he was the central figure in the 2004-05 brawl with fans at The Palace of Auburn Hills during a road game against the Detroit Pistons.

He was suspended for 73 games, the NBA's harshest punishment for a fight. In December, two civil lawsuits against Artest that stemmed from the fight were dismissed.

Artest had surgery on his left thumb in April and was expected to take 8-to-10 weeks to recover. His summer has been just as turbulent as most of his NBA career.

After wavering for more than two months, Artest elected not to opt out of the final year of his contract for $7.4 million by July 1. But the forward immediately announced he regretted his decision, saying the Kings had misled him on their interest in a long-term contract extension. Artest also said he couldn't see himself playing in Sacramento beyond next season.

Artest apologized to the Kings a few days later after a long discussion with Petrie -- but one week after that, Artest demanded a trade, claiming he had been blinded to his career well-being by his friendship with the Maloof family, which owns the Kings.

Joe Maloof responded sharply to Artest, warning the forward to muzzle himself. Two weeks later, the Kings apparently found a taker for Artest's defensive skills and high-maintenance personality.

The trade will reunite Artest with Rick Adelman, who coached Sacramento when Artest was acquired by the Kings in a trade with Indiana during the 2005-06 season.

Artest played 40 games for Adelman and averaged 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and a career-high 4.2 assists. He was also named to the NBA All-Defensive first team.

The Rockets went 55-27 last season, but failed to get past the first round for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Kings, meanwhile, would be thrilled to get their hands on Greene, a 6-foot-11 forward from Syracuse who impressed the club in pre-draft workouts. Greene was drafted by Memphis with the 28th overall pick and traded to Houston in a three-team deal on draft night.

Although Greene played just one college season, he proved to be a versatile scorer who could fit well into Sacramento coach Reggie Theus' uptempo game plans.

Luol Deng agree with Chicago for $80 mil over 6 years. How are decent players getting this much money yo...the guy not even an all star player...I want to hire his agent next time i negotiating salary. Didnt Brand get about this amount from Philly and he is ah 20/10 guy normal...Deng not on tha level. They would be better doing like Nets and gettin rid of they stars and waitin 2 years for men like Lebron or Wade to become free agents and throwin they money at them...especially as Wade from Chicago.

That's a lot of money to give Deng...

Yesterday the Bobcats locked up Okafor for another 6 yrs to the tune of $72 mil...I guess Chicago have money to burn.  Ben Gordon considering his options overseas as well.

The Knicks meanwhile trade Renaldo Balkman to the Nuggets for Taurean Green, Bobby Jones and a future draft pick... last night the release Green and Jones in a clear salary-cutting move.

Eh doh start dat nah, Wade not going no way, Riley already have things in place to have loads of money to resign Wade in 2010. All dey have to do now is to bring in the right players and show Wade de direction dat de organisation will be going after 2010. So far we on track, we already have Beasley, he will be a monster in dat NBA league, I think Riley just need one more superstar and a good bench and Wade lock down fuh life down here.

Riley is very unpredictable, but I don't think he will resign Marion after dis season. However, yuh never know, if dis team do real big things for the up coming season and Marion really shine, he might resign him. I'm expecting Marion to have a great season, cuz he will want to impress de Heat organisation and other interested parties. Remember dis might be hs last long term deal, so he will want to get as much money as he can. De Heat may not even have to shop around for dat 3rd star, cuz de way de rookie (Mario Chalmers - point guard) has played so far, dey think he will be a huge surprise in dat league. His name is already being mentioned in de same sentence as C.Paul and D.Williams. Remember where you heard it first  ;). HIGHLY BLESSED.
