Rangers hurt Joe Public in the ‘Lions den’
By: Randy Bando (ttproleague.com).

Sixth placed St Ann’s Rangers are on a scoring spree following their 5-1 league win over Tobago United and now trash Joe Public 3-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Tuesday.
Captain Josimar Belgrave registered a double against the Lions netting on either side of the half but it was hard tackling Joseph Peters who opened the scoring in the 26thminute.
Belgrave’s items came in the 44th and 50th minutes for the 3-0 win over the Michael Mc Comie coached Joe Public.
However Joe Public dropping one place are still ahead of Rangers in 5th with 8 points, while the Anthony Streete coached side is in sixth with 7 points.
Rangers will face bottom of the table Ma Pau SC on Tuesday at the Larry Gomes Stadium while Joe Public are up against high rise North East Stars at the same Malabar venue.

Grande Stars stun Connection
By: Randy Bando (ttproleague.com).

New signing Kevin Nelson brought light to his club when he helped North East Stars jump out of the bottom and into seventh on the League table after stunning W Connection 2-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
Nelson got on the scoresheet in only eleven minutes as a North East Stars player as the troubled Stars seemed to have acquired their ace of spades after signing the former W Connection striker for the remainder of the 2008 season.
Another 2008 signee and former United Petrotrin player Sylvester Teesdale hit the mark on Tuesday against W Connection. Teesdale converted in the 85th minute to close off the 2-0 win for coach Clint Marcelle enjoying success after less after taking up the job fifteen days ago.
W Connection dropped one spot into fourth with their 9 points, another bad result for coach Stuart Charles Fevrier following their Courts Pro Bowl semi-final exit. W Connection were beaten 2-0 against Defence Force in last Friday in the Pro Bowl semis.
W Connection will have their chance to remunerate themselves next Tuesday when they face Defence Force in the League at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
While North East Stars, now out of the bottom and coaching problems seemed resolved, will host
mid-table Joe Public at the Larry Gomes Stadium as they target another impressive result.

Oilmen back to winning ways
By: Randy Bando (ttproleague.com).

Leaders United Petrotrin have extended their winning run in the TT Pro League to six matches after a 2-0 win over visiting Tobago United on Tuesday at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground.
Midfielders Simeon Augustus and Kendall Davis were the scorers for Petrotrin boosting the Brian Williams coached side to 18 points at the top of the League standings, followed by Jabloteh(16) and Caledonia(10).
United Petrotrin were defeated in the Courts Pro Bowl semi-finals by Caledonia AIA 4-2 on penalties but coach Williams assured that their knockout result wasn’t going to affect their League performance.
And he did return to winning when Augustus opened the scoring in the 7th minute playing in front of their home fans.
Tobago United managed to keep the score 1-0 against them at the end of the first half but Kendall Davis made it 2-0 by the 65th minute.
Tobago United are ninth on the standings with just 4 points after six matches. Tobago United will host third positioned Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA next Tuesday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
While United Petrotrin will take on another unbeaten team and second placed Clico San Juan Jabloteh in a top of the table clash at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Tuesday.

Jabloteh register revenge win over Defence Force
By: Randy Bando (ttproleague.com).

Clico San Juan Jabloteh still fresh from their Courts Pro Bowl quarterfinal loss to Defence Force met the soldiers again on Tuesday afternoon, this time in their domestic league at the Larry Gomes Stadium and registered a 2-0 revenge win.
Defence Force preparing for their Pro Bowl final on Friday against Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA where on the wrong side of the scoresheet when second half goals by Noel Williams and substitute Lester Peltier gave the San Juan Kings a trumpet win to remain second on the League standings with 16 points, two less than leaders United petrotrin.
Defence Force were on the back foot early when in the fourth minute goalkeeper Kevin Graham was called to action and made a crucial block to deny Antiguan Gason Gregory from inside the six yard area after a neat build-up by Noel Williams and midfielder Marvin Oliver.
In the 8th minute Graham gathered low after a low shot from wingback Noel Williams from distance down the right was on target.
And less than a minute later Peter Byers spilled over bar under persistent pressure by Corey Rivers after the Antiguan forward went past two defenders and into the Army area.
Army without Aklie Edwards on the left seemed less potent with Kerry Joseph in the opening 15 minutes.
Defence Force’s Devon Jorsling lacked aggression on the ball in the 15th minute when a Kevon Carter cross found his legs but allowed defender Sheldon Beteau to clear wide and the return cross was less threatening.
One minute later on the other end Graham proved unbeatable another time ripping the ball from the legs of Byers inside the area after the Jabloteh forward made another strong run inside the area.
Graham was again proving his worth in goal for Defence Force when he kept out another Peter Byers effort in the 30th minute after Marvin Oliver threaded a low pass forward for Gason Gregory and his low cross into the area provided Byers with the scoring opportunity.
Good Graham, poor Byers—the Antiguan missed the mark five minute from the half in another failed attempt on goal after Marvin Oliver provided him to opportunity inside the area leaving the match goalless at the half.
Seven minutes into the second period skipper Anton Pierre gave Daurance Williams his first test of the match when he blasted in on goal after the Jabloteh failed to clear the ball on a Defence Force attack.
One minute later Richard Roy skimmed a header wide from Kerry Joseph’s leftside cross as Army found a bit of rhythm.
Soon afterwards Jabloteh head coach Terry Fenwick replaced underperforming Peter Byers with Vincentian Shandell Samuel as his second half option in offence.
Fenwick later replaced captain Trent Noel with 20 year old Ataulla Guerra. Noel complained of slight illness prior to kickoff and that could have led to his failure to play the entire match.
Army coach Kerry Jamerson made a change on in the 65th minute replacing Bevon Lewis with Christopher Durity. Soon afterwards midfielder Kerry Joseph spanked a low drive on goal from outside the area but denied by the legs of Daurance Williams and out for a corner.
But in the 73rd minute and against the run of play, Jabloteh wingback Noel Williams gave his team a 1-0 advantage. The lanky defender made a brilliant run at far post to meet a long Elton John cross to header past goalkeeper Kevin Graham at his near post with the smallest of cracks.
Pressure mounted on Defence Force with both Kevon Carter and Devon Jorsling picking up yellow cards.
Substitue Lester Peltier went wide of far post in the 82nd minute failing to use options Noel Williams and Shandell Samuel. Samuel, another second half introduction also missed the mark hitting high after Noel Williams low cross into the area in the 85th minute.
Defence Force threw everything at the Jabloteh defence in the dying stages but just could get the equalizing item with a couple of wide efforts by Michael Edwards and five minutes from time Devon Jorsling was denied by Daurance Williams.
But Lester Peltier made it 2-0 in the final minute of regulation time after latching onto a Shandell Samuel pass and shooting between defender and goalie with a ball taking a slight deflection before bouncing into the back of the net.
Jabloteh maintain their second position while Defence Force  dropped one spot into eight after failing to add to their 4 points.
