Morris angry with Petrotrin for denying Martin.
By: Nigel Simon (Guardian).
[/size]

Clayton Morris, coach of the national Futsal (five-a-side football) was left fuming after United Petrotrin’s goalkeeper, Perry Martin was forced to withdraw from the 12-man squad for the Concacaf Futsal Final Round Qualifiers.

Morris had included Martin as one of two goalkeepers in his team which will depart for Guatemala on Saturday for the June 3 to June 8 eight-team tournament.

Contacted yesterday Morris said that he is finding it very difficult to understand why Martin, who has not featured in any of Petrotrin’s Pro League matches so far this season is not being allowed to travel with the team.

Morris added, “He (Martin) has been playing and training with the team for a while now and ironically I was the person who took him to the club after the first Futsal tournament in T&T, in 2004.

“The guy is going to represent his country at the international level and I can’t understand why they’re putting so much pressure on him.”

Reached for comment, Evans Cadogan, manager of the Petrotin team said that the final decision is for Martin to make.

Cadogan added, “He is a contracted player with our professional football team and while the Pro League will be on a break until the end of June, we still have training sessions schedule.

“Martin is currently in season and our officials at the club would not like him to go and play small goal football at this point in time, ended Cadogan.

However, Morris pointed out that Martin travelled with the team to the Concacaf qualifiers four years ago and it was no problem then.

just read this and found that it is REAL shit that Petrotrin doing with all things considered.
ya national team, be it in a FUTSAL tournament, call ya up and they say no.

But in the report it sayin the decision is up to the keeper, then sayin the mgm't dont want him to go play small goal football

that is a real petty way of thinking. PLUS the PFL on break til the end of June!
and study i eh tink he starting for that side. I tink Graham is d regular.

Anyone know the full squad for this tournament??  wonder if Graham get ban too

Martin was actually the number 1 but was also not allowed to play in the tournament held in Trinidad. Petrotrin told him if he goes to training  they will let him rot on the bench or even cancel his contract.

Steups. You does just have to wonder if some people understand the purpose behind a national league.

The same way a European manager can deny releasing one of our players from representing our country on a non-internatinal fifa date is the same way a PFL club manager can do the same for a futsal tournament..No friggin favourtism!...If the player is a key payer in the squad and is needed for upcoming games then the coach will most likely try to deny him from leaving, it happens all the time with most of our players  who plays overseas

Weary you cant risk a back up goal keeper..what will happen if the first string keeper get suspended or injured?...Oh Oh wait I amost forget this is just the PFl league so this club fuure games are not important so dey should just send de man to de futsal tournament!

Is not to say is some small goal passa passa sweat yuh know. From this comment:

Quote

You could see that they doh realise the magnitude of this. Is not just any thing...is a CONCACAF tournament. Buh i guess that they dont even have a youth team option as a keeper or something. I dunno...i could understand wanting to protect your investment....but the league will be on a break. What are the odds a keeper go get injured in training? Even so.....why would he be so urgently needed for training sessions? It isnt to say he wont be keeping active in some way.

but is this a Fifa Futsal date and is there such a thing. If not under dem provisions dey, TnT can be denied  indefinitely. This is national duty not small goal. Dis is not Aranguez savanna we talking bout dis is National duty and international futsal exposure. People are making a living off of futsal these days...

Jablotech doing that all the time and nobody could handle Hospedales, Fenwick etc Petrotrin are the ones that employs him they have all the say and i agree with their stance,i did not know national was that important, good for one good for all, everybody doing it,call JW or take it up with FPATT and hear what he they have to say that is what Morris has to do but you know it must have bachanal first, the thing is Petrotrin having a very good season, they have a plan and things working i guess they don't want anything to spoil that.

Look at it this way: Brazil call up Ronaldinho to sweat Futsal in the middle of the season.
U feel he woulda get to go?

The same rules apply to our pro league.

We cah expect to improve  our sstandard locally and then cry down clubs when they trying to foster professional attitudes and habits.

I ent holding no brief for no side eh...but...
EVERY player needed in all training sessions as far as possible.  The team will be discussing strategies etc that every player have to be involved in...sometimes even if he injured.  When yuh running drills, yuh need yuh both keepers, sometimes more depending on how many grids yuh using in the session.  Plus if he does go to the tournament, it just means he might be plunged further down the pecking order in the team.

If we could believe what they say about the choice being his to make, then he needs to ask himself what he want, and where he want to go, and whether the futsal or the PFL will be the better vehicle to take him there.

If they allow "the decision is really his", I for one would make the professional decision and go on. They might bench him, but they cyah fire him, then he was hardly featuring anyway, how many intl/national  experiences he would get otherwise. Don't tell meh that a player cannot make a professional decision on his own, and he needs a club for that, so when clubs decide not to renew a players contract, should he retire ?

Martin eh play whole season. The PFL on break til the end of June
YA denying the man to play in a national team, doesnt matter if it is FUTSAL or not.

And they could jus use their reserve team keeper to hold the fort til Martin get back. He not starting anyway..
steupsss

and this different to a FIFA int'l friendly date. The league is on hold anyway.
and that comparison to a Ronaldinho gettin call for a "small goal" tournament for Brazil cant be used to compare situations here

FUTSAL IS CHUPIDNESS.  Go get some other goalie who wants to play and thats it. not like it only have a few goalies in trinidad. go get some youth or something.  The goalie getting pay to play for Petrotrin you know.  It not like playing for the national team where some big european club can discover you and give you a big contract
