T&T Players in U.S Colleges Round-Up.[/size]

Nimchan starts with a bang……

Freshman midfielder, Gregory Nimchan (Couva, Trinidad) could not have asked for a better way to start his season. The former Union Claxton Bay Secondary and W- Connection under 20 stand-out had two goals and one assist in the last two outings for East Stroudsburg University.
Nimchan started three out of the past four games for East Stroudsburg University who presently have won all four games they played thus far including a remarkable win over nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University. Nimchan fed of a rebound to blast a volley into the roof of the goal against Slippery Rock University that had supporters of their feet in celebration.
East Stroudsburg University (2003 PSAC Champions and NCAA division II National qualifers) would then face Millersville University on september 7th which is expected to be a tougher assignment. Nimchan states, “I think it is going to be a harder game for us but we are up for the task.” East Stroudsburg University would be competing for a National division II title once again.

Farrier & Cruickshank encounters sour start but hoping for a strong finish…..

Former Naparima and St Anthony’s College stand-outs Ancil Farrier and Steve Cruickshank has started the season on a bad note with four loses and one draw thus far with Southern Connecticut State University. Southern Connecticut, who are usually national Division II contenders each year have yet to show the form that they have been showing from previous years. Ancil stated, “the season has not started well for us but it is up to us to change it around.” “I think we are going to peak at the right time.”
Although things have not gone their way as a team both Ancil and Steve are doing well individually. Farrier has two assist in their loses to Franklin Pierce and East Stroudsburg University respectively. Steve had a goal in their draw to St. Anselm University. Both players are expected to be influencial figures in their school’s quest to  win the National division II title this year.

GO….Mcknight!!

Go Mcknight….go Mcknight….go!! is the chant that has been heard from the fanatic supporters at George Mason University. Teba Mcknight and Anthony Noreiga, former Naparima College, Princess Town Comprehensive and National stand-outs could not have asked for a better start to their 2005 Division I Campaign with wins over Liberty University and Philadelpia University respectively. Teba Mcknight had an assit and Noreiga scored the winning goal in their 3-2 win to Liberty University.
It seems everytime Mcknight picked up the ball it made the opponents nervous but also made the supporters anxious. Last year Teba  he was named “All-CAA Second Team” and “All-Virginia Region Second Team.” He is a well respected player in his Conference and Region. Mcknight hopes to enter the MLS 2006 draft but knows it all depends on how well he does this season individually and also how well his team does. George Mason’s next task would be to over come University of Connecticut.

Manswell scores winner…..

Boston College and former El Dorado Comprehensive stand-out, Sherron Manswell scored the winning goal for his college in there 1-0 win over cross town rival Boston University. The sophmore forward two goals in two games at present. Boston college lost to Fairleigh Dickinson University 3-1 but Manswell proved to be a hand full for Fairleigh defense.
The goal against Boston University came when Boston College defender Brendon Ferullo, fed Manswell on top the box before he beat his marker and slot the ball pass the goal keeper. Boston College will now play Quinnipiac University at home on September 7th.

Liberty unfortunate…..

Liberty University started their season with a heart-breaking 3-2 overtime lost to George Mason University. Featuring the likes of former Queens Royal College Kyle Cupid, former Trinity High School Osei Telesford, former St Mary’s College Roberto Marquez and “All-American” Darryl Roberts. Despite their lost to George Mason Osei  had Liberty’s two items with Kyle and Roberto playing crucial supporting roles. Darryl is presently nursing an injury that would have him out for at least one and a half months. Last season Kyle was named “All League,” “All rookie team” and “Freshman All-American.” Liberty’s next assignment would be Campbell University.

There is "Hope" for Fairfield University!!

Former Queen’s Royal College stand-out Aldo Hope scored a goal in his teams 2-1 victory over North Carolina State University. Fairfield’ striker, Sam Bailey delivered a beautiful cross over for Hope who off-leashed a rocket passed North Carolina goalkeeper to tie the game. Fairfield University went on the win the game in overtime 2-1. Fairfield is now 1-1 for the season.

Aberdeen delivers the goods……

Canisius College and former Queens Royal College stand-out Simba Aberdeen scored a classic goal in the opening game of the season for Canisius College in the Buffalo Fall Classic Soccer tournament. Simba received a long pass from midfielder Rudy Pikuzinski and before running pass two defenders and then cutting a third before rifling a bullet from about 20 yards out. Canisius drew the game 1-1 with Cleveland State University.
Fabien Lewis, former Naps stand-out and 2004 “All MAAC team” and “All-New York region team” was named to the “All tournament team” of the tournament. Akil Jordan, former St Benedicts stand-out also played a crucial part in Canisius 1-1 draw with Cleveland.
Meanwhile, Loyola College, which has earned 12 MAAC men’s soccer regular season titles and 10 championship crowns since 1989, has been chosen to win the conference crown once again this season in a preseason poll voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches. T&T's Fabien Lewis was the only Trini to get selected on the squad.

Devenish opens his USF account

Freshman Jason Devenish (formerly of QRC) notched his first goal as a member of the University of South Florida as he capped off a 6-3 thumping of the Jacksonville Dolphins on Sunday Sept 4th. Jason scored in the 87th minute. Although not amongst the goal scorers, Keeron Benito, making his first outing of the 2005 season, controlled the midfield and fired off three shots during the match

Excellent work Flex......

Anthony Noreiga and Fabien Lewis seems like 2 good defenders for the future...

T&T eh produce a killer defender in as long time, somebody small and fast like overlapping Faustin, solid like Morris and die hard like blade man Brian Williams.
Faster than a speeding pittbull
Stronger than a shot of ba-bash

There are two more players from Tobago worth mentioning. Addi Williams and Al Cane from New York Institute of Technoogy. They both went to Signal Hill High school and St Clair coaching school. There team won there region for the past two years and now are 4 games un beaten. I was able to recruit these guys for the head coach. He was my team mate there and dorming buddy. We are always looking for talent from both Trinidad and Tobago. We need to establish some good links. fivers23@yahoo.com
