Connection stay on Jabloteh's tail.

W. Connection took advantage of Pro League leaders Clico San Juan Jabloteh's inactivity yesterday as they moved within four points of the defending champs with a 1-0 win over Economy North East Stars at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
Jabloteh lead the standings with 43 points followed by Connection on 39 and St Ann's Rangers on 31. Connection did not make matters easy for themselves, though, as they played the final 37 minutes with 10 players after Colombian midfielder Christian Viveros was ejected.
Stars could not capitalise though and might have conceded more as the Sangre Grande outfit repeatedly appeared vulnerable on the break. Stars owner Darryl Mahabir has earned a reputation for being ruthless with his technical staff and already parted company with one technical advisor and two coaches thus far this season.
It is just well and good that he is marginally more patient with his players. In retrospect, an early, unsuccessful penalty kick from Stars captain Anthony Wolfe--who was denied by Trinidad and Tobago teammate and Connection custodian Marvin Phillip--was costly as Connection took the lead soon after through a strike from Jose Seabra in the 27th minute. It was enough to keep Connection's title hopes alive.
