Incredible goal... no so much the goal itself but the pass from Srinic to pick out Mandzukic among four Italian defenders. Twellman talking ah pack ah ass about it being "too easy". True there wasn't enough pressure on the pass, but taking nothing away from the execution or the touch to trap and accuracy to finish near post against an on-rushing Buffon.

Lost on most might be the rivalry between these two sides, Croatia lies just across the Adriatic from Venice and there are a lot of cultural ties shared between the two (even closer than Croatia and Serbia together with whom they formed part of the old Yugoslavia). Just saw a graphic Croatia has lost to Italy in 5(?) straight matches... so you know Italy want this one.

Di Natale real screw somebody out of a shot near the end. My impression was that there were two fellas who coulda hit it. Get outta de damn way! Then Croatia went on a fast break but lucky for them Eduardo did poorly.
I still don't think Di Natale should start in front of Balotelli.

I had a feeling Spain wouldn't play the same starting lineup from the first game.
Even though Torres didn't score against Italy, he did provide a more dangerous and direct look for them.
Granted Ireland isn't Italy, but still, more goals=more confidence which should serve them (and Chelsea) as he goes along.
