Sunderland striker Yorke in 102mph ban.
By: Yorkshire Evening Post.

Football star Dwight Yorke lost his driving licence after motorway police clocked his Mercedes coupe at 102 mph as he headed home through North Yorkshire from a training session.

Harrogate magistrates heard how Sunderland midfielder Yorke had been stopped by a police anti-speeding unit on the A1 (M) at Dishforth, near Ripon, on September 25.

The 36-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international, who had been returning home to Alderley Edge, Stockport, was not in court to hear his solicitor Nick Freeman, known as Mr Loophole, argue that the credibility of the police evidence – an officer had made seven changes to his statement after advice from the Crown Prosecution Service – was questionable.

Magistrates rejected the defence submission, convicted Yorke and fined him £350 with £300 costs, a £15 victims' surcharge and a 14-day driving ban.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

He is very lucky.  People doing over 100 mph have been known to end up in a box carrying several others with them.

Certain parts of the US that isn't just a suspension but might even be a criminal offense...and yuh insurance company dropping yuh coverage too.  Totally irresponsible.

Peong, chances are that there were other cars travelling on that road at the time...after all, police not likely to set up a speed trap on ah empty road, not so?

70 is the speed limt and generally you can go up to 85-90 without too much problems (depending on conditions generally will get a warning) once you cross 100 though ......dat is pressure !

"Last May, Ontario passed street-racing and stunt-driving legislation that increased maximum fines to $10,000 – the highest penalty in Canada – and allowed police to automatically seize cars for up to a week for those caught driving more than 50 kilometres an hour above the posted speed limit."
