Yeh boy it gettin late.

I personally find that we play better when we have more in midfield.

Look at the game, only when Whitley,Hyland and Telesford were in midfield in d 2nd half we had more possesssion and created more options.

2 in the centre and 2 up front just not suiting us, and that 2nd striker not gettin service anyway...so better we put Telesford behind Whitley and Hyland.  I was extremely impressed with Telesford's work rate, passes, turning and runs off the ball to make himself available.  He would shut down the opposition midfield seeing that ours takes forever to recover.  As I said, the 2nd striker would be underutilized and starved of service.....better choice would be Telesford.

wa ya tink?

I just tink while d defence has always been our weakest bad of our game except in d strike squad days so a defence mid is a musttttttttt oh yes a musttttttttttt. Playin 1 striker is real risky it limits our scorin opportunities which are rare very rare

After listening to the Jamaica vs St. Vincent game last night, and reading the reports in todays papers, I think its imperrative for both JAmaica and T&T to be fore-warned about upcoming world cup qualifiers against teams that are be percieved as "weak". Jamaica came out of the blocks atacking St. Vincent last night, and could easily have been 5-0 up at half time. The half ended 3-0. But something happened at the start of the second half that could easily see St. vincent rally back to tie the game early in the second half. Jamaica totally took their foot off the gas again, and seemed to have resigned to the fact that they were better than their opponents. Now you do this type of thing in a world cup qualifuer and you could potentially end up losing the game. The Bahamas I dont expect to give Jamaica too much opposition...but a team like Bermuda is a different kettle of fish. The lieks of Barbados, st. Vincent, Grenada etc have it in them to spring a surprise here and there too.

Breds...I am very certain that Cupid would rise and keep that 'Right Back' position for himself.

He have wat it takes. Jus need to work with him on his positioning.....especially with balls over the top and diagonal balls.

He is extremely good going forward and recovers well.....the positioning is something he will work on and make the adjustments. He was exposed by a Primiership all-star team after all. Remember it was his overlapping and cross that created Telesford's goal against Jamaica.

That being said, Kareem Smith does not offer much going forward but is simple, effective and solid at the position. Time for him to get an extended run to see who is really better.

although we had better possession, we couldn't make a proper attacking pass. I dunno if the game Sunday was a good one to draw conclusions from, but to me our players was making up the plays as they went along and when they got the ball (or even when they defending), they weren't sure what to do. Maybe they don't understand the game plan or can't execute it properly?

Boyz rout SVG 5-1
King notches double as Ja stroll to easy win
IAN BURNETT, Sport Editor

Jamaica produced a spirited, if somewhat patchy performance, to humble St Vincent & the Grenadines 5-1 in their friendly international football encounter at the National Stadium last night.

Played in front of a decent mid-week crowd, the Reggae Boyz, who open their CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying campaign against the Bahamas at the same venue on June 15, romped to victory through goals from ace striker Marlon King (26th and 42nd), Demar Phillips (17th), Deon Burton (74th) and captain Ricardo Gardner (87th). Marlon James replied for the visitors in the 56th minute.

In was the ninth meeting between the teams, and the Boyz stretched their already dominant position to seven wins, one draw and a loss.

The Boyz were out of the blocks quickly with Ricardo Fuller forcing goalkeeper Melvin Andrew into an early save from an Andy Williams corner.

The opening goal was not long in coming and just after the quarter-hour mark Phillips gave the crowd what they were waiting for. He received a cross-field pass from Rudolph Austin deep inside the opponents' defensive area and after skillfully eluding his marker, placed the ball firmly out of the reach of Andrew to give Jamaica a well-deserved lead.

Almost 10 minutes later captain Gardner was sent through with a well-weighted pass down the centre of the field by Williams, but the Bolton Wanderers man was brought down just before he shot goalwards and referee Alfredo Whittaker from the Cayman Islands had little difficulty pointing to the penalty spot.

King, who plays for Wigan Athletic in the English Premiership, calmly and expertly slotted the ball home, wrong-footing Andrew in the process to increase the lead to 2-0.

The situation went from bad to worse for the visitors thereafter, as the home side turned up the tempo and the hapless SVG failed to respond adequately, especially after their technical director and head coach Stewart Hall was ejected.

Three minutes from the break, King notched his second when he volleyed home superbly from inside the penalty area, after good interplay between the energetic Phillips and Austin on the right flank.

He then went inches from registering a hat-trick when he slid Fuller's pull-back from a penetrating dribble just wide of Andrew's right upright.

The Boyz were on song and Gardner was denied when Andrew blocked his rasping right-footed drive from outside the penalty area as Whittaker signalled the players to the dressing room, much to the relief of the visitors.

Jamaica continued from where they left off in the second half, but they appeared more profligate in front of goal, as King again failed to notch his third, going close to making contact with Fuller's cross, and they were made to pay for their generosity when Marlon James soared high over the Jamaican defence to head home and reduce the deficit after Phillips lost possession in the defensive third.

Jamaica should have hit back immediately, but Williams booted well high after being perfectly served well inside the 18-yard box by Phillips.

Then Fuller also skied an effort from just outside the area before the Boyz' play fell away and the visitors assumed control of the vital midfield area.

Jamaica was still the better team and was always dangerous on the counter-attack, despite the many changes by technical director Rene Simoes.

One such substitution, 1998 France World Cup hero and veteran striker Deon Burton, almost added to the lead with his very first touch.

Fellow substitute Luton Shelton sped down the left flank and centred for the striker, whose ferocious left-footed volley was superbly blocked by Andrew for a corner.

From the resulting kick, Ian Goodison rose high and the back post and headed the ball down out of the reach of Andrew and Burton just managed to get the final touch ahead of Williams as the ball crossed the goal line.

Shelton also had a chance to add to the tally, but he dragged his right-footer wide after being played through by Burton, who looked sharp in his 20-minute spell.

Burton was also intricately involved in the fifth and final goal when he took advantage of the visitors' poor defensive scheme to attack the back post and cross the ball for Gardner to have the easiest of chances to tap into an unguarded net and bring the curtains down on a decent effort from the Boyz.

But Simoes and his back room staff will be well aware that there is still a lot of work to be done as the World Cup Qualifying campaign nears.

The Reggae Boyz leave for Trinidad and Grenada tomorrow for two more friendly engagements.

Teams:

Jamaica - Donovan Ricketts, Ian Goodison, Adrian Reid (Jermaine Taylor 69th), Simon Ford (Keneil Moodie 76th), Evon Taylor (Richard Langley 82nd), Ricardo Gardner, Andy Williams, Demar Phillips, Rudolph Austin (Jamal Campbell-Ryce 65th), Ricardo Fuller (Luton Shelton 70th), Marlon King (Deon Burton 72nd).

Subs not used: Shawn Sawyers, Obrian Woodbine, Jermaine Johnson, Omar Daley.

Reggae Boyz Whips St Vincent and the Grenadines 5-1

Marlon King with 2 goals and Ricardo Gardner with one, led The Reggae Boyz to a 5-1 victory over St Vincent and The Grenadines in their international friendly at the National Stadium in Jamaica.

Technical director Rene Simoes seems to have found a good combination and formation for the Reggae Boyz as they defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 5-1 in an international friendly here today at the National Stadium in Jamaica.

Jamaica’s 3-5-2 lineup, included Donovan Ricketts in goal, Simon Ford , Adrian Reid and Ian Goodison defending, Ricardo Gardner, Demar Phillips, Evon Taylor, Rudolph Austin and Andy Williams in midfield and Marlon King along with  Ricardo Fuller in the striker roles

Playing in front of approximately 15,000 spectators, Jamaica went ahead at the 17 minute mark with a nice pass from Marlon King to Demar Phillips who scored from a left footed strike. The Boyz kept up the attack playing with pace and determination that earned them 5 corners in the first 25 minutes.

The second goal came by way of Andy Williams laying off a nice ball to Gardner who was brought down in the penalty box. Penalty taker Marlon King stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 2-0, 27 minutes into the game. St Vincent tried to get their attack going by playing the long ball but they were easily picked off by Ford, Reid and Goodison who defended well...More in the News |Read more in the Forum

Most of the players who playing abroad for JA dont do shit at their clubs..so bajanscout dont get carried away!.. think if we had played St. Vincent instead of England (using the same squadd against England) what would have been the result?.the score would have look similar to cricket match..  (what has Andy williams dont for the last two years for his respective clubs? he had problems even making the starting line up)....like I said in another thread JA beating St Vincent is not dat serious..we recently beat barbados and grenada with a weaker squad than what we have now and that same squad would have beaten St Vincent
