Mexico & USA secure places in Women’s U-20 Semifinals.[/size]

The USA and the hosts, Mexico secured their places in the semifinals of the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship after posting victories in Group A against Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago, respectively, at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla on Friday.

Three goals by Kelly O’Hara and two more from Michelle Enyeart and Madeline Nicole Washington led the defending champion USA to a 9:0 win over Cuba, while in the second match, Claudia Erika Garcia scored twice and Liliana Mercado added another for Mexico in the 3:0 triumph against Trinidad & Tobago.

The USA and Mexico are currently leveled for the top spot in Group A with six points each, but the Stars & Stripes have the advantage over the Tricolores on goal difference (+13 to +10). Both teams will meet for the first-place honors on Sunday at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

Group B encounters conclude at the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship on Saturday as Jamaica face Nicaragua, while semifinal bound teams of Canada and Costa Rica meet for group crown. The tournament semifinals are scheduled for the 25 June in Puebla. The third-place match and final of the CONCACAF event will take place on 28 June at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

The top three teams from the CONCACAF Tournament will qualify to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Chile 2008.

I saw the 6 goals versus Cuba. About two (possibly three?) were 1 v 1 with the keeper ... a couple others had a defender and the kpr in the mix ... one was a long range effort ... and another was a really good effort seeing a well-timed/well-placed shot into the nets ... with two defenders chasing ...

Seemed to be a lot of isolation. I was wondering where the rest of the Cuban players were.
