EBBSFLEET United boss Liam Daish has made his third signing ahead of the new season with the acquisition of Trinidad & Tobago international Ricky Shakes. The 23-year-old winger joins the Fleet from League Two side Brentford and is the third player to arrive at Stonebridge Road from the London club. Shakes has made 120 Football League appearances in his career beginning at Bolton Wanderers under the management of Sam Allardyce in 2004. Since then he played under Dennis Wise at Swindon Town before joining Brentford. He made 39 appearances for the Bees last season scoring three goals. With midfielder Chris McPhee joining Weymouth last week, Shakes could be the ideal replacement on the Ebbsfleet wing. Daish said: “We missed someone with pace on the flanks a little bit last season. Ricky has genuine pace and can also tuck in as a striker if required."
The club's other two signings are Darius Charles and Craig Stone.

Liam Daish has made his third new signing of the close season with the capture of 23-year-old right winger Ricky Shakes. The Trinidad & Tobago international, who has also played under Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers and Dennis Wise at Swindon Town, spent last season with Brentford and has amassed more than 120 appearances in the Football League.
Shakes, who looked set to join Wrexham last month after being shown around the Racecourse Ground, is the third ex-Brentford man to join the Fleet this season, hot on the heels of Darius Charles and Craig Stone. In an interview on the MyFC site, Liam Daish revealed that he had been tracking the winger for a while and was excited by the prospect of Shakes' attacking ability. "We missed someone with pace on the flanks a little bit last season," Daish said. "Ricky has genuine pace and can also tuck in as a striker if required."
