« on: July 15, 2008, 04:08:51 PM »
Hi Guys,
There are 2 players from Trinidad and Tobago on Trial at Yeovil Town (English League One).

Anyone have any ideas as to who they might be?

Thanks.

Just looked, both are free agents so you could be right.

I don't know positions yet, but we actually don't have a keeper at the club right now (???) so a keeper would make sense.

International players turning out for Yeovil Town

International players turning out for Yeovil Town
Yeovil Express (By Steve Sowden)

THREE players with full international honours to their names will be appearing for Yeovil Town tomorrow evening in the Glovers’ first pre-season friendly of the summer at Potters Barn Town…albeit playing for developing football nations Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti.

Yeovil boss Russell Slade has named a 14-man squad for the match at Potters Bar which has been arranged as part of the deal that saw talented left-back Nathan Smith move from the Ryman League to Huish Park in the latter stages of last season.

The squad is very much made-up of youth team players and trialists, although Slade has included first-team members Craig Alcock and, obviously, Nathan Smith himself.

It would appear that Slade has kept the majority of his more regular faces back for Saturday’s Huish Park friendly with Championship outfit Barnsley which kicks-off at 3pm.

There are a number of unfamiliar names in the Yeovil squad. Midfielder Hayden Tinto, 22, and 26-year-old Conrad Smith, also a midfielder, are two Trinidad and Tobago internationals who are looking to impress Slade.

Also in the squad is 25-year-old Abel Thermeus, who was born in France, but has appeared for Haiti at international level on three occasions. He started his career with French side Monaco and his other clubs include Scottish team Motherwell.

Slade will also take a look at 6ft French striker Stephane Robinet, 25, who has recently been turning out for AS Cherbourg, while another Frenchman on view will be 20-year-old full-back Nicholas Plumain who has been playing for non-leaguer Fisher Athletic.

While 24-year-old Paul Vines, a prolific striker for Tooting and Mitcham United, will also be involved.

The squad that will travel are as follows: Pierre Martini, Craig Alcock, Jordan Street, Nathan Smith, Paul Vines, Arron Brown, Nicholas Plumain, Ren Turnock, Rich Davey, Owen Irish, Hayden Tinto, Conrad Smith, Stéphane Robinet, Abel Thermeus.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

A little update/funny about Conrad and Hayden.

Quote
"Hayden Tinto and Conrad Smith from Trinidad and Tobago have only been here a few days and they made me laugh when they went to Bath (A City near Yeovil) on Monday.

"They originate from a very warm climate and when we finished our training we did our hydro work which involves getting into a very hot bath followed by a very cold icy bath.

"They were fine in the hot bath but when they went in the ice bath they were out in about 15 seconds.

"Ideally you need to stay in for about two minutes to get the benefit.

"When they got out of the bath they couldn't walk because their legs had ceased up that much.

"It was so funny to watch, I ended up crying, however they are nice lads and they are still adjusting."

Hey JackAdams I hope you can give us some feedback on how well Tinto and Smith look playing for you guys.

This is a quote from someone who went to the game:

"One lad on the right wing (no.7, small lad) had a good touch however was very small and IMO would struggle against League One defences."

Wouldn't read too much into that, as no one knows who played.  There are loads of trialists at the club at the moment.

There's a home friendly on Saturday, so will let you know how it goes.

Great quotes " The most notable Yeovil trialists were Trinidad and Tobago pair Conrad Smith and Hayden Tinto along with Abel Thermaus, who has been playing his football in La Liga for Levante B and has represented Haiti 3 times and the busy Stephen Robinet."

"Trinidad and Tobago international Conrad Smith delivered a inch perfect cross for the Haiti poacher Thermaus to nod home his second goal. Possibly earning himself a second chance to impress Yeovil manager Russell Slade. But it was his fellow countryman Hayden Tinto who impressed on the right-wing with his pace and trickery."

Personally I would put tinto on that right wing , and push Carlos to right back , been seening him play years now always has impressed from intercol to Under -23 to Pro league. He may be small but that boy quickkk. Reminds me somewhat of a similar player to aaron lennon or theo wallcott.

Hi Guys, Just a little update on Conrad and Hayden.  They were both still here as of yesterday and played against Barnsley, both coming on as subs in about the 70th minute.  In the little time they had both looked good and looked eager to earn a contract.

Hayden provided the assist for the 2nd goal, when he broke up the right and slipped the ball forward for Owusu to chest the ball and shoot.

I was disappointed they weren't given longer.  But they did well.

I don't know if Tinto and Smith are still here?  The team are off to play in a small tournament and have taken 20 players.  Tinto and Smith are not amongst them.

So I don't know if that means they've been told they aren't wanted.  Or if they will continue to train with the club on their return.

If I hear any more I'll let you know.
