International players turning out for Yeovil Town
Yeovil Express (By Steve Sowden)
THREE players with full international honours to their names will be appearing for Yeovil Town tomorrow evening in the Glovers’ first pre-season friendly of the summer at Potters Barn Town…albeit playing for developing football nations Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti.
Yeovil boss Russell Slade has named a 14-man squad for the match at Potters Bar which has been arranged as part of the deal that saw talented left-back Nathan Smith move from the Ryman League to Huish Park in the latter stages of last season.
The squad is very much made-up of youth team players and trialists, although Slade has included first-team members Craig Alcock and, obviously, Nathan Smith himself.
It would appear that Slade has kept the majority of his more regular faces back for Saturday’s Huish Park friendly with Championship outfit Barnsley which kicks-off at 3pm.
There are a number of unfamiliar names in the Yeovil squad. Midfielder Hayden Tinto, 22, and 26-year-old Conrad Smith, also a midfielder, are two Trinidad and Tobago internationals who are looking to impress Slade.
Also in the squad is 25-year-old Abel Thermeus, who was born in France, but has appeared for Haiti at international level on three occasions. He started his career with French side Monaco and his other clubs include Scottish team Motherwell.
Slade will also take a look at 6ft French striker Stephane Robinet, 25, who has recently been turning out for AS Cherbourg, while another Frenchman on view will be 20-year-old full-back Nicholas Plumain who has been playing for non-leaguer Fisher Athletic.
While 24-year-old Paul Vines, a prolific striker for Tooting and Mitcham United, will also be involved.
The squad that will travel are as follows: Pierre Martini, Craig Alcock, Jordan Street, Nathan Smith, Paul Vines, Arron Brown, Nicholas Plumain, Ren Turnock, Rich Davey, Owen Irish, Hayden Tinto, Conrad Smith, Stéphane Robinet, Abel Thermeus.
