Marlene like Paolo Maldini. They have no intention of retiring.

She did not qualify .... but she set a world record for 48 year olds  :beermug:

http://www.european-athletics.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6566&Itemid=2

Here is the story

MARIBOR (SLO)

Slovenian super vet Merlene Ottey failed to qualify for her 8th Olympics at the Slovenian National Championships. However with seven under her belt she is still breaking the record books!

The incredible 48-year-old finished second in the 100m with 11.61 (+2.0), after achieving a World record for 48 years old athletes of 11.56 in the semi-finals. However both results fell short of the 11.42 Olympic B-standard. The title winner was Pia Tajnikar with 11.52.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

She's in incredible shape for her age though, reminds me of a 72 year old man running ball in Westchester, was totally shocked when I heard his age, when I asked him how he did it he indicated that he ran track for Italy and never stopped exercising regularly subsequently.  Don't think he ran in 7 olympics though, wow
