The Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors have held discussions about a possible trade involving Jermaine O'Neal and T.J. Ford, according to reports in the Indianapolis Star and the Toronto Star.

The Raptors -- eager to move an unhappy Ford and make Jose Calderon their starting point guard -- also would include center Rasho Nesterovic and possibly their first-round pick in Thursday's draft, both newspapers reported.

One sticking point might be O'Neal's health. He played in 42 games last season because of a left knee injury, though Pacers officials said recently that O'Neal is healthy, according to the Indianapolis Star.

O'Neal, a six-time All-Star, averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds a game last season, and is currently working out in Las Vegas.

A second issue might be the financial burden O'Neal poses. He is set to make $21 million this season and $23 million in 2009-10.

Multiple reports surfaced this past weekend about a possible trade that would have the Raptors sending Ford and their first-round pick (No. 17 overall) to the Phoenix Suns for forward Boris Diaw.

Sounds like a good deal

raps already have a fast point guard who does think quickly too...and dem NEED a bruiser in the middle to take some lash

Not so great to lose nestorovic...but he wasnt stayin anyway

ah like it, yet my on concern is, it now makes 2 go to guys(offensively), they would probably have to alternate, go 2 guy/clean up, based on who's hot...How fast Sam learn to manage dem when both ah dem ON, yet ah hope dey bond before it becomes an issue....eg. Remember when TJ was buildin house - brick after brick, an Sam wouldn't pull him an put Calderon, lettin we drown with im...ah mean yuh could take ah chance with Bosh if he orf, cause yuh still gettin defense an team fight, buh Ford needed changing at times and Sam wouldn't...ah hope he could recognize the change now...

Raptors was a playoff team w/o him so yeah, they will make some serious noise.  I can't understand why Cleveland ain't make any moves but I am sure they will.  Miami will not have no 20 game season that's fuh sure!!

Ah glad every body round here, understand what will be happening in de NBA next season. People guess what, we not done yet, de free agency open 2morrow and de word around town, is dat Riley trying tuh make ah big move and trade Marion. Hear my choice, apart from Boozer and Brand, whom I did mention before, ah like Marion for Carmelo. Both teams will be happy, cuz Denver getting ah good defender and perimeter shooter tuh compliment Iverson, Martin and there big defender Camby.

Well of course we will get ah very big shooter, wid ah inside and outside game, dat will compliment Wade and Beasley. Carmelo, is not much of a big defender, but wid de Heat he will surely learn tuh defend. Ah Wade, Beasley and Carmelo, dey will be real sweet tuh watch, dat is if Erik and Riley decide tuh run dat up tempo game. Well if dey want some inside presence, well of course Boozer or Brand is de way to go. Ah believe ah decent center is available in de free agency, ah think is Diop is his name. HIGHLY BLESSED.

you cant win a nba title or dominate without a powerful frontcourt these days, in jordans days you could play with decent role players, now you need power upfront
