GOL TV on Time Warner Cable in NYC
« on: July 27, 2008, 05:17:14 PM »

As a La Liga follower, it (GolTV) was the biggest loss when I switched from DirecTV to Time Warner Cable last Summer, but it seems like next season Time Warner Cable subscribers in New York will have GOLTV... TWC subscribers can now appreciate something other than the EPL.

I stumbled upon GolTV on channel 199 today and found the following news item.....

Time Warner Cable Builds HD Roster In NYC
Adds Enhanced Bio, Trio Of Starz Services In Three Boroughs
-- Multichannel News, 7/23/2008 8:24:00 AM
Time Warner Cable buttressed its high-definition roster in three of New York Cityís boroughs today, while bolstering its digital-cable and Hispanic offerings.

The nationís No. 2 cable operator today made Biography Channel in HD (channel 763), Starz Edge HD (channel 677), Starz Kids & Family HD (channel 678) and Starz Comedy HD (channel 681) available to its customers in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

The operator also launched its HD Movies On Demand service to its Hudson Valley and Staten Island systems on July 23.

Elsewhere, Time Warner Cable added a trio of foreign-language service as part of its "DTV en Espanol" package: Ecuadorian service Ecuavisa, the Dominican Republicís Telemicro and WAPA America.

AETN service Bio Channel and History Channel were added to the operatorís digital-cable roster in the aforementioned boroughs, while News & World, featuring reports from CNN and other news outlets, will become a free on demand channel (1015) on July 31.

Up next: soccer-centric Gol TV comes on board Aug. 6 on Time Warnerís Spanish-language package, as well as on its sports tier. The network is currently available as a free preview on channel 199 through that date.

Kicker, you can get GOLTV for free on your computer via TVU. If you ever find yourself in the situation where your cable provider doesnt carry  that channel, then download the TVU standalone player and tune in...its free. If you have a 22 inch screen on your computer, even better.

Yeah that's what I did last season to watch La Liga  games, (don't have 22 inch cpu screen though)...so it'd be nice to have it up on the big flat screen next season  ;D
