Trinis take the lead in murders

Badly worded title, implies overall # of homicides exceeds that in any other Caribbean country, what is true is that the rate of increase does exceed that of the latter, # of homicides is currently ~ 1/2 that of JA per capita.

Overall, a truly sad state of affairs irrespective of the above details

What's even more sad is that it's not really surprising

Agreed, don't know if you know but in the Tri-State area you can view CNC3 weekend news review on Sunday at 2.30 on NYTV (Ch. 22 on Cablevision); inspite of where crime currently is all that can be seen on the news review is the back and forth between Manning and Rowley on the budget and other similar issues, the attention that is being paid to crime seems far below what it ought to be given the above.....

For real, dat headline is irresponsible - comparing the rate of increase to Jamaica is pointless, it is a completely meaningless statistic.

Manning does not have a clue on how to go about resolving or alleviating the crime issue. He has all the power in TT right now. He has to take the blame.

wat ppl fail to realise is d high murder rate come MOSTLY because d gansters killin out each other. yuh cyah really stop dat an quite frankly me eh mind dem gangsters killin out deyself. dey savin d judicial and d police system plenty time an money in ketchin an tryin dese criminals. wat de government hadda work on is when d innocent ppl gettin kille, d drug traffickin, d kidnappin, dese are d areas dey should put more focus. cah reallly do much to stop d gang warfare. unfortunate but true.

bless!

W. Queen,
I see your analogy, but you don't know when one of them bandits will randomly pick on you or members of you family to do bodily harm. Patrick has to make the security system put a dent into these killings. Them guys killing without the fear of retribution from the legal system of TT.

Queen Deeks have a point..everything has to be addressed, even the "gangsters klling gangsters" ..yuh see this week it may be gangsters killing gangsters and no other victims involve..but next week it can be an innocent pedestrian in the park or a school child in a playground (and there are million more examples i can give) becoming victims of the "gangsters killing gangsters" scene..also it adds to the unsafe feeling T&T citizens are having just to walk down their own public streets or use public transportation at night...Some way or the other it affects the whole society..

the article is correct,we are more violent than jamaica at the present moment, the murders, the cocaine, the kidnappings and radical groups all make trinidad a volatile country to live in.
