2 teams playing one team dominating the possession, shots on goal, generally has the game on lock down and the other team up and scores unexpectedly or against the flow of the game

the statement "the goal was scored against the run of play kinda confusing" is like

RUN OF PLAY means you have the ball and running at ah chelsea keeper and boom goal score on arsenal. to me a goal could be only scored in the direction of the play.

i got my answer. i guess its self explanatory.
