arm let mi put it simply. barcelona sold him.

really. thought i read that Barca wanted to keep him. In fact, the kid was balling he wanted to leave since the Jan transfer window. In the end, the club didn't fight too hard cuz they had plenty talent coming up, but Gio and his advisors forced the move...is what the English press was reporting anyway

I doh really watch La Agua too much... but the Barca games I try to ketch and from what I saw he was getting salt like Theo Walcott the past couple years.  Maybe in another year or two he may have started getting more run like Walcott is now, but can't say I blame the yute.

said it pre-season and will say it again..

the youth is a talent and have real potential... but he was nowhere near the finished product.

he was making waves in the barca youth system and got promoted to the first team and look good in pre-season then the press start to hype him up... making comparisons to ronaldinho and labelling him as the next big thing. Then he start to play primadonna and quarrel about not getting a regular sweat.

His competition for a place was Ronaldinho, Etoo, Messi, Henry, Bojan and Gudjohnsen, and he still get a couple sweat in the earlies, but it was apparent that he wasn't ready yet. Nice touches, good speed but poor decision making and tendency to be completely anonymous against strong opposition. Nuff times he start or come on expected to be the difference maker and did absolutely nothing.

That move to Spurs was always going to be a disaster. No player at his tender age, lack of development and experience, and most importantly lack of physical stature, should go to an EPL team where he is expected to deliver the goods immediately. Even players at the peak of their games in other leagues struggle to adapt.  Look at Modric who is rated much higher than him ketching he ass...

He leave a world renowned youth development system at Barca to go to Spurs. Where is the sense in that?

Whoever advising that youth is ah wicked, wicked man!!

How Ramos srew him over? If the yuteman went tuh Spurs wit the same attitude dat led tuh Barca having no problem letting him walk then it should be no surprise dat he aint gettin no run. Plus if had cool he heels, work hard , open he ears and close he mouth he might have been in a better situation.

Barca saw the trouble from early was using contract extension to bargain for more money so they decided to cut their losses, make some money same time....

Giggsy, yuh feel Ramos eh complicit in de scene wid Giovanni? ... I fuh one eh going to give him clean hands ... although, of course, Juande hands washed as he off to a new start with RM ...

btw, where's the evidence that he was masquerading at White Hart Lane as some kinda prima donna ... interviews with Gio and Darren Bent suggest he was quite receptive to learning and was very accomodating of his new environment ... and was treating players like Bent as mentors ...

beyond that, imagine the pyschological contrast of being at Spurs and then flashing to join Sven for WC qualifying ...

I said 'if he went to Spurs with the same attitude that contributed to Barca being cool with him leaving then no surprise he not gettin any run'. This season Barca have utilized their young players that came through from their youth systems there is no reason he could not have been apart of that set up. But it appeared he wanted to be startin and felt he was good enough to be starting hence him not willing to bide his time and Barca not willing to indulge him. it also appeared that he felt going to Spurs would have given him the platform to perform and surprise surprise come tuh find out he out of his element. I agree with you and Omar regarding the cultural shock and not being ready to handle the situation he ended up in and I am sure the coaching situation didn't help. By the way if I was a youthman I would prefer to be mentored by Eto, Xavier, Puyol, Inesta, over a Darren Bent.  :beermug:

Well, to put things in perspective ... Gio's departure is not solely down to a temper tantrum ... doh feel Pops didn't have a say (just like Ronaldinho's brother Assis, Pops is influential in these decisions) ... he would not have supported the movements solely on emotion ... secondly, it's not like they burned bridges with Barca ... after all Gio's younger brother remained part of the framework ... and Guardiola used him.

The Bent thing I found interesting ... considering the balance of senior team caps between them...

Chivas de Guadalajara has an interest in taking on Gio, but he doesn't want to leave Europe. Plus, if he returns to MEX, his preference is to play for America ... his dad's former club ... I doh see him leaving Europe.

This drunken photo scene eh help his cause at all.
