Preview: Manchester United vs. Wiganby RivalsDM

Updated: January 13, 2009, 8:11 AM EST Wigan manager Steve Bruce is likely to name an unchanged side for Wednesday's trip to Premier League champions Manchester United.

The 1-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday was Wigan's sixth success in seven league matches and Bruce is reluctant to change a winning team.
Therefore the 11 players who all played 90 minutes against Spurs will be pressed into action again as Wigan go in search of their first victory over United, having lost all seven previous meetings in league and cup matches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wigan (from): Kirkland, Melchiot, Bramble, Scharner, Figueroa, Valencia, Cattermole, Palacios, Taylor, Heskey, Zaki, Boyce, Brown, Koumas, Camara, Kilbane, Pollitt, De Ridder, Kapo.

Man United hit by injuries to Evra and FerdinandUpdated: January 13, 2009, 3:17 PM MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Manchester United will be without left back Patrice Evra for three weeks and central defender Rio Ferdinand for another week because of injuries.

Evra is set to miss as many as six games because of a foot injury he picked up in Sunday's 3-0 Premier League win over Chelsea, while Ferdinand has already missed the defending champions' past five matches because of a back problem that requires more rest.

The pair has helped United keep the Premier League's best defense with just 10 goals conceded in 19 matches, but will now miss Wednesday's game against Wigan - which could take United within two points of leader Liverpool.

Ferdinand will then miss Saturday's game with Bolton but and most likely the second leg of a League Cup semifinals against Derby next week before playing in the Jan. 24 FA Cup match against Tottenham.

"He's been to the specialist and there are no major problems with his back," United manager Alex Ferguson said. "He'll have a series of exercises to do from now on and that will hopefully help things."

Evra, who has only just returned from a four-match suspension, was hurt crossing for Wayne Rooney to score United's second goal against Chelsea and could return for the Feb. 8 Premier League match at West Ham.

"It's a blow," Ferguson said. "He just went over on his foot and damaged the ligament in the bottom of his foot. We're trying to get the swelling down at the moment and there's a lot of blood in there which needs to be cleared up.

"That will take around eight to 10 days. Then we'll get back into training."

United's problems should be eased, though, when defender Wes Brown returns following ankle surgery in November. The England international, who can play at right back or in central defense, is set to be in action within two weeks.

Evra will be back in less than 2 weeks... whenever we say up to 3 weeks...that means 2 weeks

Hopefully fit again Fabio will grab his chance...he's apparently better than Rafael

Tomorrow may be to soon but vs Derby next Wednesday seems realistic...until then Johnny Boy will have to try his best
