Tony Warner turns Crewe down
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:41:28 AM »
Hull City keeper Tony Warner has turned down the option of a loan move to League One strugglers Crewe.

The 34-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the KC Stadium and is currently seen as the club's third choice shot-stopper.

He joined the Tigers on a free transfer from Fulham last summer but has seen his route to the first-team blocked by Boaz Myhill and Matt Duke.

His outing against Millwall in the FA Cup last weekend was his first for the club, suggesting he may be tempted by the lure of regular action elsewhere.

However, Warner has made it clear that he is willing to remain in East Yorkshire and fight for his place.

Hull manager Phil Brown said: "Crewe and Grimsby have both shown interest in taking Tony for a month but Tony is making noises that he doesn't want to go, even though there would be a 24-hour call-back.

"He wants to stay here and fight for his place but there are two very good goalkeepers in front of him."

Not a smart move...should have jumped at the chance to get some playing time.

Ah guess Ince couldn't persuade him  ;)

The man old and he say he have nothing left to prove by going down two divisions. He rather stay and fight for a chance to play in the EPL. Once he drop down two division looking for a regular sweat, that chance gone forever at his age. Outside of Paul Ince bringing his MK DONs keeper to Blackburn, when last u hear a big side buy a keeper from the lower divisions?

Is all about what your priority is.Regular sweat in the lower divisions is less important to a man who play over a decade of football there already, as compared to being able to have a slim chance to play at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge
You either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain
