Robinhood, Britannia meet in CFU battle at Macoya.
T&T Guardian Newspapers.

North East Stars will get a first-hand look at its second round opponents in the 2006 Caribbean Football Union Concacaf Champions’ Cup when SV Britannia of Aruba tackles SV Robinhood of Suriname in a home-and-away first round series here in T&T.

The first match takes place at Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya from 8 o’clock tonight, while the second-leg will be played on Thursday, at the same venue from 6 pm.

The winner of the series next face North East Stars, the reigning club champions of the T&T Professional Football League in the second round.

In matches already played , Positive Vibes of the US Virgin Islands left St Lucia with a 2-0 victory against hosts, Northern United, in Series E.

In Series B, Bassa FC was expected to visit Sagicor South East of Dominica on Friday while the other first round Series C match, involving Grand Bazaar Dublanc of Dominica and Hoppers FC of Antigua was scheduled for Thursday last.

The other first round winners of CFU qualifier brings together Portmore United (Jamaica) and SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber (Antigua) for the quarterfinal home-and-away fixtures next month. Semifinal matches take place in November with the Caribbean champion club to be crowned through a final home-and-away series in December.

The Caribbean champion will join two clubs each from Mexico and USA, along with three Central American teams, in the 2006 Concacaf Champions’ Cup with the winner of that event taking on the best of the World in FIFA’s 2006 Club World Championship.
