Inspiration from the most unlikely source....
« on: March 13, 2009, 11:06:24 PM »
How much influence and how much do you think that the u-20 's qualifying for the World Cup will inspire our senior team?

A. Very much
B.  Not much
C. Some what?
D. Your thoughts

Lessons learned: What are some lessons learned from this team's success?

A. you could take a core group of locally based players and  keep them as a team...enter them in a league... and over time, you will get a cohesive team playing a system of play that all understand.

B.The element of time and players' familiarity with each other is critical to success.

C. A reliant on foreign based players  could be a thing of the past?
D. Success is imminent is how you play the game
E. No coaching controversy with this team???

Good points but there is one thing to think about.  What happens when players from this current under 20 team start getting contracts to play overseas.  Won't we be back to the same scenario we face now with our senior team?

That is why I find the local vs overseas/foreign players argument is real waste of time.
Are you a match? It's too late for Emru, but maybe you can help save someone's life: http://www.healemru.com

they TOO will get beans from AJW
UNLESS they handle their business properly....most players had done good so far
Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; do it thoroughly, not superficially. Go to the bottom of things. Any thing half done, or half known, is in my mind, neither done nor known at all. Nay, worse, for it often misleads.

Two points of view.
1- Where is jamal Gay playing/
2- It has to do with the coach of blending the locals with the foreign base.

Dittto!  Men gone back with that local vs overseas thing again.  Any great player we have will become an overseas player and if we can't get players signed overseas, it means they not as good as they (or we) think they are.  Why did Yorke, Latapy, Stern, and Dog play so much overseas is because they were very, very good.  WERE!
Never, never, ever give up! Go T&T Warriors!

True enough that the probability of the  best of TNT  plying their trade abroad is very much our reality. The question then is will our local league ever develop  players to compete at a standard where the reliance on the foreign based player is not always a critical spoke in our wheel?
This is not to say or to reharsh the local versus foreign player debate, it is simply to  find out what  and where our league has to go to produce a player  or players worthy of competing  at the international level.
