30.9.05 - SV Robinhood of Surinam made it through to the quarterfinal stage of Caribbean qualifying for the 2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
First half goals from Jermin Brown (29 Minutes) and Amantie Massie (32’) handed SV Robinhood a 2:0 victory over opponents SV Britannia of Aruba in their encounter taking place in neutral Trinidad & Tobago on 29 September, and an aggregate victory of 4:1 across the two games.
SV Robinhood’s progress almost completes the line-up for the quarterfinal round of Caribbean qualifying for the 2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup, which will see four pairs of teams competing on a home-and-away basis for a place in the semifinals, with games taking place on 12 and 26 October. Just one quarterfinal berth remains undecided and Northern United of St Lucia will be hoping to overcome the 2:0 advantage Positive Vibes of the US Virgin Islands gained in the first leg of their series when they meet in the decisive game, in St Lucia, on 1 October.
Following their victory, SV Robinhood will now play North East Stars of Trinidad & Tobago in their quarterfinal. The second quarterfinal pitches Bassa FC of Antigua & Barbuda against SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber from the Netherlands Antilles. Meanwhile Hoppers FC, also of Antigua & Barbuda, will play Portmore United FC from Jamaica. Finally SV Victory Boys (Netherlands Antilles) await the result of the Northern United versus Positive Vibes game that will determine their quarterfinal opponent.
