W Connection reign as FCB champs.

For the second straight year, W Connection prevailed by penalty kicks to lift the First Citizens Bank (FCB) Cup at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella on Friday.
The "Savonetta Boys" walked away with a 3-1 triumph over CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh after both teams were goalless after regulation time. No extra time was played under tournament rules.
Connection’s captain Earl Jean sent Jabloteh’s goalkeeper Daurance Williams the wrong way, placing his spot-kick — the team’s fourth— to the right of Williams to spark a crowd invasion at the end of a tense shootout.
Playmaker Gefferson Goulart and striker Andre Toussaint had similar fortunes with their attempts, with Jose Luiz Seabra’s effort saved by Williams diving to the left.
The hero of the night was Jan-Michael Williams, who went right to save efforts from Trent Noel and Nicholas Addlery while veteran Cyd Gray (his first try hit the upright but the goalie infringed) skied his attempt overbar; Nigel Codrington netted Jabloteh’s lone goal.
Earlier in the evening, 2004 runners-up Defence Force rebounded from a seventh minute strike from Jerol Forbes to whip United Petrotrin 3-1 for the third-place spot, with Devon Jorsling netting twice (19th and 47th) and Brendon Christopher once (77th own goal).
Both Connection and Jabloteh formed a guard of honour for renowned referee Ramesh Ramdhan, who announced that the match will be his last local league match before his retirement at year’s end. And he surely allowed both teams to get away with a lot of aggressive and tough tackling, as they fought tooth and nail to gain the upper hand in front of a crowd estimated at 4,000.
Jabloteh captain Angus Eve saw his header held low down by Connection’s goalie in the sixth minute, following a deep right-side centre from Josh Johnson.
Connection’s best effort in the opening half came from Jean, who, in the 35th, capitalised on a headed back-pass from Gray but shot wide from 15 metres out.
Jan-Michael Williams had to stretch to save a powerful blast from Aurtis Whitley in the 56th while, in the 61st, Seabra’s left-footed freekick found David Atiba Charles, who muffed his close-range header.
Eve also had another try at goal, in the 69th he collected a through pass from Noel, turned past Ronaldo Viana but sailed his 25-metre left-footed attempt overbar.
After the trophy presentation, Connection’s coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier was quick to point out that the final was a tactical game.
"Jabloteh played well but I think (on Friday) we just probably had the edge and I think our concentration was a little bit better than theirs," Charles-Fevrier added. "It was a closely-contested match."
And the former national coach was also high in praise of Jan-Michael Williams, who has replaced Colombian-born Alejandro Figueroa as the starting goalkeeper midway during this season.
"We’ve recognised that Jan-Michael has improved as a goalkeeper," said Charles-Fevrier. "We have Alejandro Figueroa who’s also a quality goalkeeper. We’ve just rewarded Jan-Michael for the hard work he has put in and the improvement he has made," the coach added.
The ex-St Lucian defender affirmed that there will be no respite between now and the end of the 2005 season, with Connection holding a massive 13-point lead in the Pro League. "We are professionals, we are being paid to play and win football games," he noted. "We’ll enjoy the moment and then get back to business."

Ah see Jamaica future midfield gereral and they next Theodore Withmore playin for San Juan Jabloteh reserve team, maybe he might improve one day and get promoted to first team....

W Connection lucky, but give them props they real professional and they will imporve the league if they import some better Brazilians and South American players.

Better luck next time Jabloteh, allyuh need to buy Keon Daniel (when he get better), Hayden Tinto, Javid Mohammed, Anton Joseph, Atullah Guerra, Kezi Lara, Devon Maxwell, Joel James, Kendall Jagdeosingh, Keegan Mills and Kevin Graham and groome them for next season.
