MADRID, April 6 (Reuters) - Real Betis striker Sergio Garcia will be out for a month after injuring his knee while celebrating scoring the opening goal in the 3-3 home draw against Numancia, the Primera Liga club said on Monday.
The Spain international slid to his knees after netting in the ninth minute on Saturday, and had to be substituted soon after.
The side's top scorer with nine goals twisted the lateral ligament in his left knee the club said on their website (
www.realbetisbalompie.es).
Betis are one point above the relegation places in 16th, with nine games left to play, after twice blowing a winning position against Numancia in a crazy game that included three penalties and three red cards.
For next weekend's trip to face Racing Santander, under pressure coach Paco Chaparro will also be without defender Nelson and Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo who were sent off on Saturday, and Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira who picked up his fifth yellow card.
