I moving back and forth between the 2 games. Arsenal have not started badly, but Villareal have looked good.

Senna testing the new keeper, Cap-de-Villa with a nice follow up. Villareal have a very nice short passing game.

Another nice quick build up from Villareal. Gallas is struggling from that collision a few minutes before. That's not good for Arsenal if he can't make it. Knee injury?

Yeah, that Gallas sub was a big one. 1-0 Villareal at the half. A fair reflection of game play. Arsenal weren't bad, but Villareal are giving them all that they can handle at the moment. I think Arsenal will be better served to try and keep the scoreline to 1-0 and play for the home leg.

You have to question playing 4 players that have been out for so long, Fabragas, Adebayor, Walcott and tosome extent Nasri. Add Fabi and Djourou and its too much out of form players.

Much better second half start to Arsenal's game. More intense, a little faster to the ball and stronger in the tackles.

Still questioning those guys being on the field? Arsenal are all over Villareal at the moment. Important away goal for Arsenal.

Yes! I think Walcott has done very little and so has Fabragas, Nasri now looks lively when he is central. Ok Fabragas made the pass and it was a lot from Adebayor to score. But  overall Yes. I feel Arsenal running the midfield now due to the change Villareal made in midfield

Thankfully for Arsenal it is Wenger and not you running the team because Arsenal have made a few tactical changes of their own to good effect. Villareal didn't just fall apart, they've been under more pressure in this half.

Walcott is a one dimensional player so he's unable to adapt here. He's playing his part for his team all the same.

Yes, is you alone.

BTW:
Fabregas chips a pass into the box from deep. Adebayor controls it on the chest and hits an overhead shot into the back of the net. GOAL!!!

Senna could kick a football, dred! Had that last shot been on target it would have been 2. Villareal started to regain a bit of control again.

Well that is obvious it is after all Wenger's team. No team dominates for 90 minutes at this level, yet Arsenal in their brief period of domination manage to score and have one shot other than that. However, Villareal have dominated the first half, should have led by more and now the latter part of the second half have once again taken control.

Exactly, Villareal have been the better team, not that Arsenal was a bad one. After all that there's no shoulda there is the fact that it is 1-1. Villareal didn't give anything to Arsenal, Arsenal played well and took it.

1-1 final. Arsenal have stolen a result here as Villareal really were the better team for most of it. Sets up a nice second leg.

Song and Denilson were brilliant today. Neither are quality passers of the ball like Senna, but they do their job and win a lot of balls in front of the defense.
