Ma Pau FC goes under to T&T’s U17.
ctntworld.com.

This country's national under 17 footballers continued their preparations ahead of the CONCACAF under 17 final round world cup qualifiers with a 3-2 victory over pro league team Ma Pau FC at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya yesterday.

Ma Pau already a goal up should have doubled their lead here but this effort from inside the 18 yard went over bar.

They would however extend their lead before the half, miscommunication from the under 17's defence allows Sean Cooper to get a final touch on the ball and send it into the goal.

2-0 Ma Pau at the half.

At the resumption the Pro League outfit came close extending their but the header went over bar.

National midfielder Anthony Wolfe then had a great chance to extend his team's putting Ma Pau three up however his shot went agonisingly wide.

At the other end Shadon Winchester had one of the Young Warriors few chances hitting this shot over bar.

Winchester would make up for his earlier miss rising above the Ma Pau defence to head in from the corner.

The U17's could teach their senior counterparts a thing or two about fighting to the end this as they equalised through this one time effort from Ross Russell Jr.

They sealed their come from behind victory when Captain Jerrel Britto capitalised on some poor Ma Pau marking to beat the keeper at his near post and seal a three to two victory.

Good result and good case for them to test their development and team tactics in the Super League

Punctuate that with some quality club and age group internationals and we should stay ahead of the rest of the region.  This back four need more experience and the other forwards need to step it up in case Jerrel Britto gets injured or is selected for the U-20 side.

I'm going to assume they played the B team in the second half.

I really not surprised.  The U17s never really stopped training since their tour of the US during the colleges league, so the young uns clicking, plus they have some real talented and gutsy fellas on the team.  Next consider where Ma Pau end up in the PFL last season, then consider what Wim say about the PFL  ::)

the other teams in the PFL go kicks on them for the rest of the season. only difference between Mau Pau and a pickup-side from mayaro is that they have a chinee owner who have plenty money to pay the players a salary.

That is no surprise. Maybe Ma Pau used their reserves. When I played on the youth many moons ago we played Maple at Mt. St Benedicts and beat them. Also we played the national team in Skinner park and beat them, 1-0. Goal by Chanapoo from about 25 yds. The seniors played 1 man short for 15 mins. The rest of the team got caught in traffic. They beat us in a return 3-0. Steve David and Sammy finish us off.
