Excellent clip Trini, thanks for sharing, learnt quite a bit watching it. I found the reporter to be a bit unbalanced or un-neutral, she would emphasize "how it used to be for the Afrikaners under Apartheid" w/o calling into question the obvious ills of such a system as if to imply an equality between the pre- and post-apartheid era as far as social systems/justice etc. Pashad makes a really good statement I think in response to this, social science mimics natural science at times, when one tries to correct an ill, oftentimes the correction goes past the median in the opposing direction and perhaps oscillates for a while before reaching the equilibrium position, SA is going through that correction phase now which will perhaps propel them past the median. All in all, it's sad when anyone lives in poverty or is oppressed for any reason (skin colour, socio/economic level, religious beliefs, etc). PS The rise of the black middle class their is great to see, hopeful through mentorship programs they can aid in minimizing poverty across the land.
