Manuel Pellegrini is back on Real Madrid's agenda as one of the clear favourites to succeed Juande Ramos if Florentino Perez wins the presidential election, according to a report in AS.

The Chilean coach was initially considered to lack ‘big club experience’, but Perez’s right-hand man, Jorge Valdano, believes that he could be the new Arsene Wenger.

Valdano has already held lengthy talks about the subject of a new coach with the would-be supremo in a bid to convince him that Pellegrini is the right man for the job.

Perez was desperate to prise Wenger away from Arsenal, however, he now recognises that the Frenchman is set to stay at the Emirates and resist any advances.

Pellegrini has been seen as ‘Plan B’ in the presidential camp. Meanwhile, the media have speculated that many big name trainers could be tempted by the task of resurrecting the club. Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Michael Laudrup have all been linked, but none appear to have made their interest public and nor have they agreed to any deal.

Perez wants to have a coach in place before the election is held so that he can use the name to promote his manifesto.

I know it was not going to be too long in coming ..dem fat cheques teams eh stupid.

Kaká
Certain sections of the Italian media have already predicted that Kaka will exit Milan to join Real Madrid in a €65 million deal. Now, the Spanish press is speculating that Los Merengues' presidential favourite, Florentino Perez, could present the playmaker next Thursday.

Radio announcer Jose Ramon de la Moreno said on his Cadena SER programme, ‘El Larguero’, that he believes Florentino will be elected into office by default this coming Monday as he is so far the only candidate to meet the requirements to run for the presidency.

Numerous other media sources such as the French television network, InfoSport, hold a firm belief that Kaka’s transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu is all but done, and Moreno appears confident that the 27-year-old attacking midfielder will touch down in the Spanish capital sometime next week.

There are also reports that the Brazilian will be joined in the presentation podium by Villarreal’s Chilean coach, Manuel Pellegrini, as Los Blancos’ new trainer.

CHANGING SIDES: Manuel Pellegrini has transformed Villarreal since arriving in 2004. Now he's taking over at Real Madrid.
Relevant offers

Villarreal has reached an agreement that will allow coach Manuel Pellegrini to take over at Real Madrid.

Club manager Jose Manuel Llaneza told the national news agency Efe that contacts were made and "as is logical between two clubs that get on, an agreement was reached."

Pellegrini would replace Juande Ramos, who took over at Real Madrid in midseason after Bernd Schuster was fired.

On Saturday, the Chilean said he had not had any contact with Real Madrid over a potential move to the club.

A spokeswoman at Villarreal club said there had been contacts with Real Madrid but insisted there was no official confirmation of the deal.

Pellegrini has transformed Villarreal since arriving in 2004. The club finished fifth in La Liga this season, clinching a place in next season's Europa League, formerly the UEFA Cup.

Madrid finished second to Barcelona and was eliminated in the first knockout stage of the Champions League for the fifth straight season.

Recent reports have said incoming Real Madrid president Florentino Perez plans to present Pellegrini on Tuesday and Milan's Kaka as the club's new star player Thursday.

Perez was due to be confirmed as club president later Monday. He is the only candidate for elections that had been scheduled to be held on June 14.

Villarreal defender Joan Capdevila has declared that former coach Manuel Pellegrini is being unfailry treated at Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old believes that the Chilean is doing an outstanding job at the Santiago Bernabeu but has the misfortune of coming up against the best Barcelona side in history.

"From a distance, I think he [Pellegrini] is being treated unfairly. I do not know if it's just him or all their coaches. When you win six games nothing happens, however, lose once and it is his fault, never the team. That's what happens at Real Madrid," he is quoted as saying by Marca.

"The only but this year is the Champions League, otherwise he's having a very good season with a record number [of points]. What happens is that he is competing with the best Barca in history."

Capdevila also noted that Pellegrini is not as serious a character as some people believe and is a great support to his players.
"He's always with the players, gives them confidence and also makes many jokes, he is not as serious as people think," he stated.

A resurgent Villarreal host Barcelona in their next Primera Liga game at the Madrigal and Capdevila joked that his side would beat the champions with ease.

"We're going to win even easy!. The truth is that it is difficult, against a team that is playing for the league, but we're both going well. For Barcelona, El Madrigal, is not a venue they like a lot and they know they have to play a good game and be fully alert. Today we know that we are inferior to Barcelona, not only us but the entire world, but we will try to make it difficult."

Villa postponed victory celebrations last year ...you know you just cant rule out the yellow submarine !
