Latapy misses out on final.
By Iain Collin (The Scotsman).
FALKIRK legend Russell Latapy will miss out on attending today's Scottish Cup final as he prepares to take a managerial bow with his native Trinidad and Tobago.
The 40-year-old called time on almost six years with the Bairns in January but was keen to return to Scotland to watch them take on another of his former clubs, Rangers, at Hampden this afternoon.
However, with the crucial World Cup qualifying double-header against Costa Rica next Saturday and Mexico on 10 June marking his debut as the new Soca Warriors head coach, the ex-Hibs and Porto midfielder has decided to remain in the Caribbean to finalise preparations.
Falkirk manager John Hughes said: "Wee Russell would have loved to have come over but he's in the middle of preparing for his first match with Trinidad and Tobago and can't come.
"He's delighted for the boys for getting through to the final, though, and I'm sure he'll be watching out for the score."
