Jlloyd Samuel Now Eligible?

FIFA removes age limit on players switching nations
Reuters.

NASSAU, June 3 (Reuters) - Many players could get a new chance to play international football after FIFA's congress surprisingly voted on Wednesday to remove the age limit on changing national teams.
Under established rules players with dual nationality, who had already played for a country's national team at youth level, were only allowed to switch loyalties until the age of 21.
A motion from the Algerian Football Association, removing the reference to the age limit, was passed by 58 percent of the FIFA Congress, opening the way for many players to get a second chance in international football.
The rule change does not affect any player who was played for the full national team as they are barred from switching nations.
The Algerian change was backed heavily by African countries - many of whom will now hope to 'regain' players who have played at youth level for European countries.
Algeria could now have access to several players who have featured in France's youth teams such as Lazio midfielder Mourad Meghni.
Meghni, who was born in France to Algerian parents, represented France at Under-17 and Under-21 level but has never played for the full national side.

From what I think I've heard on this board he (unlike Zamora according to some views on here) still has a T&T flag hanging at his home and is proud to be Trinidadian.  Why not call him?

Yeah! Could really really use Samuel.
And Hoyte. Assuming either one is interested. Full back is a major problem position for us.

Yeah it is. If we get one of them it will be good. Dont need to worry about the forwards, midfield could get a bit stronger, but defense needs sharpening.

Great News Samuel will surely help us you guys think he will get a chance?

Samuel cannot play for Trinidad
Aston Villa full-back Jlloyd Samuel
Samuel has not won a full cap for England
Aston Villa full-back Jlloyd Samuel will not be able to play for Trinidad and Tobago after a ruling by Fifa.

Samuel has played for England Under-18s and Under-21s and featured - without playing - in the senior squad for the friendly against Sweden last year.

The 24-year-old was born in Trinidad and wanted to switch allegiance.

But Fifa ruled Samuel is too old to be allowed to play for another country as applications can only be made by players who are under 21.

"We have noted that Samuel has not played for the England senior team but also that he was born in 1981," said Fifa's Heinz Tannler.

I'm sure some people will accuse me of jumping on the bandwagon but I feel Trinidadian
Jlloyd Samuel

"In principle, a player can request once changing the association for which he is eligible to play international matches - but only up until his 21st birthday - and Samuel is 24."

Trinidad and Tobago are in a two-legged play-off against Bahrain for a place in the 2006 World Cup.

"I've played for the England Under-21s and I'm sure some people will accuse me of jumping on the bandwagon but I feel Trinidadian and want to play for them," said Samuel.

"I was born in Trinidad and it would make me proud to play for them."

Samuel is allowed to appeal against the decision, but is thought unlikely to succeed.

I think Jlloyd for one will love to play for Trinidad but think bout it Zamora case not like he gone cap for England so he would surely wanna cap for us... but we don't really need Zamora we have Jones and Scotty... nice to have the option though...

Nope. He already played for the US senior team. This rule change is only for youth players who haven't committed to a senior team yet.
