Soca Princesses for Singapore World Youth Olympics.
T&T Guardian Reports.

T&T Under-15 women’s football team has been approved by Concacaf as its representative for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games next year in Singapore. The competition, which has been sanctioned by Fifa, will involve eight teams, one from each Confederation and the host country Singapore. Fifa vice-president and Concacaf boss Jack Warner said that the local women’s team will be given the same type of urgent preparations as the Under-17 women’s team which is preparing to host Fifa Under-17 World Cup next year in T&T.

For the men’s tournament, Cuba has been selected as Concacaf’s Under-15 representative. This was among some of the decisions made by the Confederation’s Executive Committee at its regular semi-annual meeting chaired by Warner, last Monday. Concacaf also took a decision to award Honduras a third team in next season’s Concacaf Champions League, due to Belize not meeting the standards for an adequate stadium.

Concacaf allowed for a one-year grace period for teams to meet the standards. Teams were to be replaced from other countries based on the performance of their clubs in the previous Champions League. The board also approved the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) to host next year’s Concacaf Under-20 Women’s Championship in Guatemala in January and selected Costa Rica as the site of next year’s Under-17 Women’s Championship in March.

A number of CONCACAF countries are not happy with this decision. Jack simply appointed T&T to be the CONCACAF representive at the U15's. No other country was given an opportunity to participate, no qualification, no playoff nothing.

Ah well!

Ah well!

But wasn't Cuba selected in the SAME fashion for the men's.

And Honduras was awarded a third team in next season’s Concacaf Champions League.

Focus on them too...

Sam I could easily done that, but the intention was to show why people are always of the opinion that T&T Football being favourably assisted by Jack.

The decision on Honduras is understandable, with an explanation as to why they gave Honduras the approval.

However, on the Junior Olympics out of 26 CONCACAF countries, why T&T? For that matter as you correctly stated why Cuba?

Most confederations do things in an open manner with an explanation. CONCACAF does what it wishes. As an example. Imagine our single biggest tournament held in CONCACAF is the Gold Cup. Yet the draw for this tournament is a "close door" draw. Where on earth do you hear about a close door draw for an International competition?

IMHO opinion CONCACAF actions are always held to question because of their actions, which places the Confederation in an unprofessional light.

You have to remember, anyone would have done the same for their country and it is WRONG.... but we all know Jack.

Furthermore, why only USA gets to host the Gold Cup. Their is favoritisums anywhere you go.

T&T women team is probably the 5 best in CONCACAF, but why not give them the exposure, should powerhouse USA and Canada always get the opportunity, then teams like T&T will never get better. I know USA and Canada might have under 15 women teams, but does Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama have the one ? maybe they dont ?

As much as I hate the way things does run in CONCACAF I cant help but be happy for the under 15 women team.

How do you explain that? If you are the best then you will always get the best. Why TTFF eh put in place a proper youth development plan? To say what you said there is  not right to say the least.

I'm suprised Honduras only had 2 teams in CCL- they really do deserve at least 3 spots because of the quality of their league.

Smaller soccer nations get Youth Olympics shot
Associated Press.

NASSAU, Bahamas - FIFA has given places at the first Youth Olympic Games to smaller soccer nations who rarely play on the world stage.

Eight European teams have been chosen by UEFA to compete for a place at the inaugural games in Singapore next year where they will play for gold medals against teams preselected by the five other soccer confederations.

Boys' teams from Albania, Liechtenstein, Montenegro and San Marino, and girls' teams from Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia and Moldova will play round-robin tournaments in Nyon, Switzerland, on autumn dates yet to be fixed.

The YOG lineup is completed by host Singapore, Bolivia, Cuba, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe in the boys' event. Chile, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Papua New Guinea plus Trinidad and Tobago will play in the girls' tournament.

FIFA announced the entries at its Congress late Wednesday.

The global governing body wants the youth games to offer an opportunity for countries that traditionally have little chance of qualifying for the World Cup or Summer Olympics.

Bulgaria is ranked highest among the entrants at No. 23, with No. 92 Albania the next best of the Europeans. San Marino and Papua New Guinea are in a six-way tie for last place at No. 202.

The Singapore games will feature about 3,200 athletes aged 14-18 competing in 26 sports.
