England cleaning up the ashes
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:09:21 PM »
hoo hoo! England and more importantly Anderson was wiping the glee off the aussies faces today with a 5-wicket haul...then came Onions with 4 and Swann to take 1
I just rejoice when Australia gets beaten...I know I'm baad
anyhow this game will change with the weather I bet, and we'll get a good competition over the next few days
hooray for test cricket! ;D

As much as I dislike England and its pathetic bunch of whining cricketers, I dislike the Aussies even more.

So I guess... Go England.

I dislike them both enough that I'm truly neutral. Don't care either way who wins. However, I won't mourn an Aussie loss.

On checking some of the stats of the series it seems England were a bit fortunate to be up at all. 4 out of the top 5 run scorers in the series are Aussie. Only Strauss has a century for the English while already 5 Aussies have scored centuries, 2 have done so twice. 5 Aussies are batting at an average of 50 or better, no Englishman is averaging 50. Strauss (49.14) and Flintoff (42.75) are the only batsmen in the 40s. The top 3 wicket takers in the series are all Aussie as well.

The important stat is 1-1, so in that regard England are right in it. With the momentum in the Aussies favour though you have to think that they are favoured to retain the Ashes. Cricket being what it is though what has happened in the series is meaningless come August 20th.

England 332 & 18/0 (8.5 ov)
Australia 160

England lead by 190 runs with 10 wickets remaining

Day 2 - Session 3

Look like licks sharing again.

All this time we thought that the WICB was doing s***, but in truth, they were part of the global long-term plan to deal with Australia. You see, Australian cricket operates on a hive mind. Like the borg, so while you think you figure out how to defeat them, the other parts run the calculations and stymie your efforts.

The West Indies have decided to sacrifice themselves to fight this menace, hiring Australian coaches, who have been infected with the rank s*** that is now regional cricket. Once the virus has been confirmed in the host, they are then allowed to leave (under the guise of a random firing) and return to the hive, where they then infect the collective.

This worked effectively for Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum in Independence Day and can now be seen in action working for England in the Ashes.

One day, the cricket word will look back an honor the West Indies for the great sacrifice we have made. Probably with a series against a team we can beat like the Netherlands.
