Please note the last line. I hope this is not the case when it comes to the national team...

Tigers end Zamora chase
Duffen not disappointed to miss out on Fulham striker

Hull City have ended their interest in signing Bobby Zamora and chairman Paul Duffen insists it is 'not disappointing' to miss out on the Fulham striker.

The Tigers had agreed a £5million fee with Fulham last month for Zamora after missing out on several of their other attacking targets.

Talks regarding personal terms dragged on for over a week, with Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson always confident Zamora would turn down a move to the KC Stadium.

Hodgson's Hull counterpart Phil Brown, though, was staying optimistic that he could persuade the 28-year-old to leave the West London club.

However, Tigers chairman Duffen has confirmed the club are now moving on to other potential signings after failing to agree a deal with Zamora.

"Fulham have advised us that he is no longer available," Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail.

"It's not disappointing, it's just a fact that we've got many, many targets.

"We've moved on and we're still confident of signing the strikers that will improve us.

"It's never disappointing to lose out on someone who doesn't show any passion for a move."

Tigers in £6.5m US striker link

Hull City are set to make a £6.5million bid for Villarreal's American striker Jozy Altidore, according to a report.

Tigers boss Phil Brown is desperate to bolster his attacking options this summer and could take a gamble on Altidore, who has struggled to force his way into his current club's first-team since making the move to Spain's La Liga in a $10million switch last summer. Indeed the United States international spent part of last season on loan at second division side Xerez, where he was also a substitute more often than not.

However Altidore's recent excellent performances for his country, including a hat-trick against Trinidad and Tobago in a World Cup qualifier and scoring against European champions Spain to help lead the US to second place in the Confederations Cup, has alerted clubs to his qualities.

Altidore has confirmed that he wants to be playing regular first-team football this summer ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa so could be tempted by a move to Hull if they can match Villarreal's valuation of the player.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

I think the Hull city move for Altidore is good move for both the club and the player ! I find the yuteman is good player, just sorry he will be playing against we in the next couple of years. They should be thanking Zamora for not being interested !!

I would have been surprised if Zamora left Fulham for Hull.
Why leave a UEFA Cup team for a team that will most likely get relegated.
Hull is lucky to be in the EPL. The manager is a big talker but Hull is a small side.
