T&T U20s take international game to Sheffield Lane
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Trinidad and Tobago under20s will take part in a unique exhibition against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next week.

The Caribbean squad is visiting Sheffield for a training camp at the Blades' Shirecliffe Academy in preparation for the FIFA World under20 Championships, taking place this autumn in Egypt.

As part of the visit Trinidad and Tobago U20s will play a friendly against a United XI at Bramall Lane on Wednesday 26 August, kick-off 7pm.

Their arrival in Sheffield is a significant boost to both the city and United to be involved in the 2012 Olympics and 2018 World Cup games.

United have applied to stage midlands area matches during the London Olympics and the club's Bramall Lane stadium is part of Sheffield's offer to become a host city for England's 2018 World Cup bid.

CONACAF president Jack Warner - a key figure in the 2018 World Cup bid - is planning to attend the international match in Sheffield.

Simon Argall, operations director at Sheffield United, said: "We will be pleased to welcome the Trinidad and Tobago team to Sheffield and Bramall Lane.

"The international clash is the latest to be staged here in the last couple of years. This includes the U19 European Championship Elite Qualifying tournament in June, the televised England v Scotland legends game and Sheffield FC's anniversary match with Inter Milan.

"Bramall Lane now has the facilities to provide a fantastic surrounding for teams from around the world and we hope this will be the start of many more visits to the city in the coming years."

Following the friendly, Trinidad and Tobago will be guests of United at the club's game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 29 August.

Entry to the Trinidad and Tobago game is free for Blades season ticket holders and members, with general admission £3 for adults and £1 concessions.

FA Charter Standard clubs can claim up to 25 free tickets for the game by contacting the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA on 0114 241 4999.

United's newly renamed GAC Stand will be the only area open for the match.

This will be a good challenge for these youths, not to mention an opportunity to be spotted by an English club.

Most likely will play the reserves, but should still be a decent test.
