San Juan Jabloteh

Since I know myself, San Juan Jabloteh has been around.

And the reason it was formed is easy enough to find:

In May 1974, San Juan Jabloteh Sports Club was launched in the small, underprivileged communities of Concord and Febeau Villages in the San Juan area. Its principal objective was to uplift the socio-economic and moral condition of the young people of San Juan and its environs. Since its inception the Club has been organizing the youth of the area in different age groups in football and in 1989 netball was introduced.

But I here listening to these men on FSC pronounce the word funny and I start wondering, Where the word Jabloteh itself come from?

I think Jabloteh is a oil bird or someting. Dis question get ask before....i think that was the answer given.

A Jabloteh is an oilbird (http://www.jablotehfc.com/places.aspx):
Through its name of the Club identified itself with one of the national birds of the country – the Oil or Devil Bird-which lives in the Aripo Caves.  Originally, the French settlers called the Bird: Les Diables Oiseaux which were translated by the local settlers into Diablotin and finally Jabloteh.

From what I have read, the club is name after the oil birds of  the Aripo cave. The birds are black anf the French people called them diable oiseaux(devil birds). After a number of years the word became jabloteh. Just like how in New Orleans, the word "cajun" came from the word Arcadia.
