‘Naps’ whip Shiva Boys.

Naparima moved to the top spot in the South Zone of the British Gas Trinidad and Tobago (BGTT) Championship Division after whipping former leaders Shiva Boys’ 2-0 in the second of back-to-back matches at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella yesterday.
That result ended Shiva’s two-match win streak, while the defending Zonal champs moved to first place of the standings.
Earlier at Marabella, Presentation San Fernando pipped Siparia 2-1 while Princes Town earned a similar result against Vessigny at La Brea.
St Augustine moved to the top of the East Zone after demolishing Trinity East 5-0 at Trincity.
El Dorado consigned Arima to their third straight defeat, courtesy of a 1- 0 result while Toco and Sangre Grande earned their first points of the season, by virtue of a 2-2 draw at Toco.
Fatima continued their 100-percent record in the North Zone after blanking debutants Woodbrook 2-0 at the Police Barracks in St James.
Defending champs Mucurapo lost their second game in a row, by a 4-2 margin against St Anthony’s at the Fatima Ground, Mucurapo while St Mary’s pipped traditional arch-rivals QRC 1-0 at the St Mary’s Ground in St Clair.
In the Central Zone, Marabella, despite finishing the game with eight players, edged hosts Presentation Chaguanas 1-0 while Gasparillo travelled to Waterloo and left with a 3-1 triumph.
The initially scheduled match between Preysal and reigning champs Carapichaima was scrapped as Preysal will not be participating in this year’s season, due to their failure to meet the deadline for application. As a result, Carapichaima was on a bye yesterday.
Signal Hill began their defence of the Tobago Zone title with a 2-1 win over newcomers Goodwood in the second of back-to-back matches at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet.
In the earlier encounter, Scarborough withstood constant pressure from Roxborough to prevail 2-0 with late strikes from Mark Agard, in the 80th minute, and Christopher Morgan three minutes from full-time. Action in all five zones will continue on Saturday.
