North Zone Round Up

St. Mary's edge St. Anthony's 2-1 in battle of the Saints

St Anthony's went down to St Mary's on Saturday by 2-1 at a waterlogged St Anthony's Grounds. The wet conditions only made life more difficult for both sets of players but St Mary's just about deserved the win after outplaying St Anthony's for larger periods of the game.

CIC's early pressure paid off in the 10th minute when Akhil Noel played the ball to a waiting Joel Superville in the St Anthony's box, and Superville blasted his low effort through the legs of the defender and into the far corner of the net to give his team the lead.

Both teams had chances to score in an attacking display put on for the fans. Renaldo Garcia had a superb effort tipped over for a corner, when he volleyed from just outside the Tigers penalty box. Khadeem Riley saw his free kick flash just over the CIC crossbar as his team hunted for an equalizer.

CIC grabbed their second goal in the closing stages of the first half however when Superville turned provider this time after he dribbled into the box from the wing and laid the ball off to Chad Appoo who blasted his left footed shot past Jamal Francois in the St Anthony's goal to give his team a 2-0 lead.

St Anthony pushed forward a lot more after the break as they desperately tried to claw their way back into the game. They were rewarded in the 51st minute when substitute Brandon Quintero was first to react to a dropped cross by CIC keeper, Raheem Belgrave. Quintero acrobatically stretched to the ball and managed to flick it into the back of the net.

Both teams could have added to their tally as the game raged from one end of the pitch to the other, with St Anthony's getting the better of the chances in the second period but failing to convert. CIC looked ever dangerous on the counter attack as well.

Despite a testing final ten minutes, St Mary's held out for the win and would have been much relieved to hear the referee's final whistle.

CIC pull level on points with St Anthony's in the North Zone with both teams on 6 points. The Tigers are in 3rd place and CIC in 4th due to goal difference.

The 'Saints' host Mucurapo in their next fixture on 16th September, while St Anthony's get back in action also on the 16th September with a road trip to Woodbrook.

Fatima remain perfect: Fatima 1 - 0 Trinity

Fatima pull 6 points clear at the top of the North Zone with a 1-0 victory over Trinity College on Saturday at Fatima Grounds.

Andrew Smith scored the game's only goal in the slender victory. Trinity remain 2nd from the bottom in the North Zone with the result.

QRC trounce Woodbrook: QRC 3 - 0 Woodbrook

QRC returned to winning ways with an assured 3-0 victory over newly promoted Woodbrook at QRC Grounds on Saturday.

The 'Royalians' move into second spot, ahead of CIC and St Anthony's on goal difference while Woodbrook sit at the the bottom of the table.

North zone resumes on Wednesday 16th September with Trinity hosting QRC while Woodbrook meet St Anthony's at Hasley Crawford Training Ground.

Tobago Zone Round Up Match Day 2

Mason Hall defeat Roxborough: Roxborough 1 - 3 Mason Hall

Kirdelle Martinez scored the only goal for the home team, but it wasn't enough as Mason Hall responded with strikes from Selvon Williams, Form 1 student Brandon Joseph and Nicholas Ramsey.

The result moves Mason Hall into top spot in Tobago. Roxborough remain on the bottom of the table.

Goodwood/Scarborough - Did not play

The match scheduled between Goodwood and Scarborough did not play due to the referees maintaining that adequate security was lacking at the grounds on Saturday.

Information will be made available as soon as possible regarding whether this fixture counts as a forfeiture by Goodwood or will be rescheduled.

These teams are back in action on Wednesday 16th September with Scarborough hosting Mason Hall, while Signal Hill and Roxborough clash at Plymouth.

South Zone Round Up

Princes Town, Pres battle to draw: Presentation 2 - 2 Princes Town

Presentation College San Fernando had to come from two goals down today at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium to clinch a draw against their Princes Town opponents.

Kerron Ayers put the visitors 2 goals ahead in the first half and Presentation replied through Donelly Gopiecharran and Wesley John in the second half.

Presentation slip into 3rd spot in the South Zone, while Princes Town remain in 5th but pull level on points with St Benedicts.

Games postponed due to rain

Shiva Boys vs St Benedict's

Siparia vs Vessigny

South Zone resumes on 16th September when Naparima travel to Princes Town.

Vessigny host Shiva Boys and Siparia host St Benedict's with all four teams well rested after their games for Saturday were postponed.

Central Zone Round Up - Match Day 2

Anton Gill hits 5 as 'Caps' trounce Gasparillo: Gasparillo 1 - 5 Carapichaima

It took them longer than most expected, but Carapichaima trounced Central Zone newcomers Gasparillo 5-1 at Guaracara Park on Saturday with all goals coming in the second half.

Anton Gill had a match he will never forget, scoring all 5 of his team's goals in the encounter.

Gerald Ruiz found the back of the net for Gasparillo in a consolation effort. Caps move to 2nd in Central Zone while Gasparillo slip to 3rd spot.

A Howard Hattrick as Marabella demolish Waterloo: Waterloo 0 - 5 Marabella

Waterloo sank to a 5-0 home defeat today at the hands of Marabella led by a Karlon Howard hattrick. Nial Alexander and Dane Williams also hit the target for the visitors.

Marabella now sit on top of the Central Zone, while Waterloo remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Action resumes on the 16th September with Gasparillo making the trip to Presentation Chaguanas and Waterloo have it all to do when they visit Carapichaima.

East Zone Roundup - Match Day 4

Trinity edge 'El Do': El Dorado 0 - 1 Trinity

Trinity surprised El Dorado with a 1-0 victory today at El Dorado thanks to a second half strike from Ethan Regis.

Trinity pull level on points with 3rd place El Dorado, but still trail them due to goal difference.

Arima and Sanger Grande stalemate: Sangre Grande 1 - 1 Arima

Arima and Sangre Grande battled to a 1-1 draw today at the El Dorado West Ground.

The 'Dial Dynamos' remain bottom of the group despite the result although they did finally record their first point of the season.

Grande remain tied for 5th spot with Toco. Stephen Kerr nicked the goal for Sangre Grande.

Toco hold San Juan: Toco 1 - 1 San Juan

Toco denied San Juan all three points today with an impressive 1-1 draw against the East Zone giants.

Keshorn Walcott opened the scoring for the home team in the 3rd minute with Daniel Connelly equalizing later on.

Toco was left to rue a number of squandered goal scoring opportunities and may yet regret the dropped points.

San Juan still sit in 2nd spot in the East Zone.

These teams are back in action on the 16th September with Toco hoping to match or better their last result with a tough trip to St Augustine.

Arima will be hoping to shrug off their slow start to the season when they host Trinity East and San Juan and Grande clash at the San Juan Grounds.
