Keane has a dark side, admits Edwards
By Elvin King (Evening Star 24)

CARLOS Edwards last night admitted that Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has “a dark side”.

But the Blues newcomer, who is expected to make his home debut against Nottingham Forest at Portman Road tomorrow night, says it is a delight to be back working with him again.

The 30-year-old made his Blues debut after his £1.3million move from Sunderland in Saturday's 3-1 Coca-Cola Championship defeat at Middlesbrough and struck up a promising partnership with fellow newcomer Liam Rosenior down the right flank.

Just two points from their opening six games make it imperative that Ipswich get something out of tomorrow's match, and Edwards said: “Of course having the chance to work with the manager again after our days at Sunderland played a part in my move to Ipswich.

“It is a delight to be back working for him.

“Everyone has a dark side and Roy Keane is no exception, but once all the players do what he wants everybody will be smiling.

“The manager knows what he wants, but so far it has eluded him this season.”

Edwards only met up with his new team mates on Saturday morning after arriving back from international duty with Trinidad and Tobago when they were in their hotel rooms on Friday night.

“I have already made new friends in the squad, and there doesn't seem to be any negativity in the group,” he added. “They are all bubbly, and now we must work together collectively and sharpen up in some areas - making it harder for opponents to score at one end and scoring more ourselves at the other.

“At the end of the day the finger will be pointed at the gaffer, but we are all in this together.”

Grant Leadbitter and Liam Rosenior also made their debuts at the Riverside with the three newcomers making positives starts on a day when Jon Walters deserved his late consolation goal.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.
