Kudos to d skipper for bringing on Simmons when he did, that was a game changer just when Deccan were starting to cruise. Simmons play an important role with the big wicket and only conceding 5 in the penultimate over.

Bravo had an axe to grind witht he ball after two failures with the bat and the drop catch last game.

Like we stuck by that 150 mark sah.
But with the fielding efforts we always able to defend the totals.

End of over 20 (4 runs) Deccan Chargers 146/9 (4 runs required from 0 balls, RR: 7.30) TL Suman    9* (10b 1x4)      DJ Bravo    4-0-24-3
PP Ojha    0* (0b)      LMP Simmons    3-0-16-1

A gem of an over from Bravo has ensured it is T&T and Somerset who've made it through to the next round. At 125 for 5 with Syris and Rao out in the middle, Deccan were favourites to win this. But it has ended in utter disappointment for them, as they've lost nine out nine games in their home city. Deccan become the first IPL team to be knocked out of the tournament. A target of 150 was gettable on this track, but with three run-outs, the loss of Rao at the wrong time, the loss of Gilchrist when he was set and some nervous batting at the death meant they fell short by an agonising three runs. Two close matches and two defeats - Deccan's failure to shut things down after getting into a position of control has cost them a place in the next round. Against Somerset, they were on top having reduced the opposition to 99 for 7, and here with Gilchrist and Rohit, and Styris and Rao, they appeared to be on course but let it slip, and badly. We'll get you the presentation details in a bit.

Man of the Match - Dwayne Bravo gets it for his three wickets and that super last over.

Bravo: "A great team effort, we beat the IPL champions and it's a great feeling for us. If I had ten runs to defend in the last over, I'd back myself to defend it. Lendl Simmons bowled a very good previous over as well. I hope I continue to lead from the front with the ball. As a unit we are very happy."

Gilchrist: "It is disappointing, to be so close to a couple of times is frustrating. We didn't do the basics well - we were sloppy early on, quite a few misfields, we faltered with both bat and ball. The fitness levels were fine, we are professionals. It's an extraordinary couple of games, and at this ground we don't know what will happen. We may have to move."

Ganga: "It shows our character, we held our nerves in the end. Deccan fought hard, we wanted to come out here and win and take two points into the next round. When yo have passionate supporters in the stands, they've should a lot of faith in us, so we as players, must give them something in return. With all the "crap" that has been going on in the Caribbean, this win comes at the right time. We didn't play our perfect game but I'm sure things will improve. Dwayne has all the experience of a senior player, all the bowlers contributed. It was a total team effort."

Yes, T&T also take two points into the next round, as they beat Somerset a few days back. So the eight teams for the next round have been decided, and so have their respective groups. Tomorrow, Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Victoria. Join us then. Thanks for your e-mails, hope you liked the coverage. Until the next time, it's Sid Talya signing off. Adios!

Nice win by T&T.  :beermug: :beermug:

The way Rao was batting things looked tight coming to the end, but in this format one big over or spectacular catch can win the game.

Can anyone verify this.

I read that we are into the Super 8 round.

Having defeated Somerset in the 1st round allows us 2 points in the Super 8 .  Because of this we have to win 1 of our 2 games to qualify for the semi final.

Ah say it, how ah see it

Well not exactly. We have one foot into the semi final. If we lose the next game and NSW win their game, three teams will each have 4pts.

However, apparently our NRR from the first round was carried over as well so Eagles have to beat us bad to improve their NRR and decrease ours. At a cursory glance, it looking like they have to beat us by about 80 runs if they bat first or chase down our runs in about half the time we take to score it, if they chasing.
