Ent?  We real scraping bottom now.

The idyllic image of Trinidad I once had as a child has slowly been slipping away with each passing year, not unlike so much sand slipping thru fingers.  Whatever fleeting notions of Paradise that remained, today are totally lost.

Read the article properly! it says the men was dressed as construction workers wid the jump suites and steel tip boots hard hats and all! BC work was being done on the court house, as well as the installation of ah guard booth. the men was in the "BUILDING" not out side! the article clearly states"no contruction took place yesterday, but no one appeared to have questioned the men who stood within the unfinished walls of the "BUILDING " and waited for almost two hours".

i only going by the article.

On Monday evening, I was chatting with my cousin (video call on Skype).  He lives in Caranege.  In the middle of the conversation, he paused and said, "yuh hear dat? is gun shots"  Over the course of the next 1-2 minutes, I heard in excess of 20 shots.

He say he is accustomed to it now.  Is gang war fare up the road at a club.

I worry about him, his wife and his daughter (my God daughter).

As Bakes say - the idyllic image we had of Trinidad is no more.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

And hear the next jokey thing, the police station right next door.  So even if the unarmed ones guarding the prisoner take off running, the ones in the station apparently eh hear or see nutten.  And if ah not mistaken ah think I read or heard on the news that police didn't arrive until 30 mins later.  By then the suspects long gone.....

But say wha, we just pay ah man $80M to tell we how to police but it eh look like we getting a return on we investment....steups....NEXT!!...

From the comments:

It is a shame that my cousin had to die this way. It is a family feud going on and many more is going to die as a result of Peter`s death. I hope that when time come the police will not say the statments they got from him after he gave himself up in San Fernando are missing. There are alot of police officers involve in the GARCIA`S FEUD and they know exactly who killed him. May his soul rest in peace just like the others.

What more needs to be said?

If it's any comfort, I'm relieved to see that many of the respondents to the comments section honing in on the fact that this many never had his day in court... at least it's good to see that the presumption of innocence is still alive in some people's mind.

What I don't understand, is what is the big fuss. This is generally the way prisoners are escorted from court house to the van and vice versa. It just so happen that this individual had a bullet named after him from months prior. So it didn't matter where or how he was losing his life....he was a dead man.  Of course I'm sure, since this incident the police escorts will be fully loaded with bullet proof vest, helmet and gun. Also instead of 2 officers, it will be 4 more.

What is the big fuss?  If the gunmen wanted to kill plenty more, they would have. The deceased family knows more to this story but they not talking or can't talk....even the father said so. Okay, the man wants to protect his family and himself, but this is another reason why murderers and bandit walking the streets like it's nobody's business.....

'cana yuh should check out the news reports on this thing... this is a blood feud within an extended family with this fella half ah de family being accused of drawing first blood.  He dead and he two brothers dead, all in the space of 2 yrs or so.  On the other side two cousins dead.  The father not saying more publicly b/c what he knows is common knowledge in Rio Claro apparently... is ah family member who order the hit, but supposedly he aligned with de police.  So what talking about it to the press will do, aside from satisfy de public's curiousity?

As for the big deal... to me this highlights two problems, the corruption and/or inefficiency of the police, and the brazeness of the criminals.  Murdering people on courthouse steps?? Dai'z ah big deal... dat is mafia thing from the '30s and late '80s, dat is not Trinidad.  Dem fellas have total disregard for the law/law enforcement.  DAT is the big deal to me... yes we know dey ent care, but to this extent?  Nah!

This to me also underscores why police need tuh cut out that shit they like to do... parading man in public to shame them before they even get tried of a crime.  It should also bother people that this fella potentially could have been innocent of the crimes accused... but never got his day in court due to the criminals, and the inefficiency and possibly, complicity of the police.

Girl ah know you on kicks but what about those who supposedly committed suicide by hanging in the jail cell while awaiting their day in court? The other day some young fella 'committed suicide' while in police custody. From his father straight down to the second pathologist say eh eh!  Something wrong! By the second autopsy they said death by strangulation. Up to this day.....who dunnnit?

Both were in police custody, but the only difference is the most recent was done in public view.

If the government decides to have army personnel escort prisoners to and from court, do you think something like this would happen again ??? I think it will. If the accused have a big man's name in his mouth to call out on let's say 4 murders and kidnappings, bet your arse big man will make sure he's a dead man...even if the hit men have to dress up like doubles vendors this time.
