What I don't understand, is what is the big fuss. This is generally the way prisoners are escorted from court house to the van and vice versa. It just so happen that this individual had a bullet named after him from months prior. So it didn't matter where or how he was losing his life....he was a dead man. Of course I'm sure, since this incident the police escorts will be fully loaded with bullet proof vest, helmet and gun. Also instead of 2 officers, it will be 4 more.
What is the big fuss? If the gunmen wanted to kill plenty more, they would have. The deceased family knows more to this story but they not talking or can't talk....even the father said so. Okay, the man wants to protect his family and himself, but this is another reason why murderers and bandit walking the streets like it's nobody's business.....
What a way to live
'cana yuh should check out the news reports on this thing... this is a blood feud within an extended family with this fella half ah de family being accused of drawing first blood. He dead and he two brothers dead, all in the space of 2 yrs or so. On the other side two cousins dead. The father not saying more publicly b/c what he knows is common knowledge in Rio Claro apparently... is ah family member who order the hit, but supposedly he aligned with de police. So what talking about it to the press will do, aside from satisfy de public's curiousity?
As for the big deal... to me this highlights two problems, the corruption and/or inefficiency of the police, and the brazeness of the criminals. Murdering people on courthouse steps?? Dai'z ah big deal... dat is mafia thing from the '30s and late '80s, dat is not Trinidad. Dem fellas have total disregard for the law/law enforcement. DAT is the big deal to me... yes we know dey ent care, but to this extent? Nah!
This to me also underscores why police need tuh cut out that shit they like to do... parading man in public to shame them before they even get tried of a crime. It should also bother people that this fella potentially could have been innocent of the crimes accused... but never got his day in court due to the criminals, and the inefficiency and possibly, complicity of the police.
